Air con installation in CM5

Our air conditioning service in CM5

A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, two rooms on a multi-split £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation are all included, with commercial and VRF systems priced after a survey. The work covers VRF systems, multi-split systems and wall-mounted split systems, and people most often call us about a home office that warms up with screens and equipment and an ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life.

Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. The visit takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from photos and details for simple jobs.
  2. The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
  3. On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
  4. Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
  5. Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.

What’s near Chipping Ongar

We fit and service air conditioning in homes and premises around United Reformed Church, Chipping Ongar Primary School and The Ongar Academy, among other places. Well-known places in the area include Willingale Doe (4.5 miles north-east) and St. Margaret's Hospital (5.2 miles west). Open spaces near Chipping Ongar include Gernon Bushes.

Where we install in CM5

In CM5, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.

We’re based in East Grinstead and work across London and the South East, CM5 included. Every job starts with a site survey or pictures, then a fixed-price quote.

Chipping Ongar: If your home is in one of the older streets near United Reformed Church, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. Hill Hall (roughly 4.4 miles south-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.

What air conditioning cannot fix

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
  • A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
  • Draughts and missing insulation

What affects the quote in CM5

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:

  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • The size of the job
  • The pipe route between the units
  • The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why every job is looked at first, and why the quote is fixed before work begins.

Before you get in touch

A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • Any error code or flashing light on the display
  • Wide pictures of the room or the existing unit
  • Your installation or service records
  • The fuse board and where it is in the property

To get a fixed-price quote, phone 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with the address and a few details about the rooms or units involved. Photos help a lot. We reply to enquiries the same working day.

What the work involves, system by system

Pipework and condensate drains

Air conditioning takes moisture out of the air when it cools, and the condensate drain carries it away. If gravity won’t do it, a condensate pump is fitted, and we plan that on the survey.

Wall-mounted split systems

A single-room split is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, with supply, fitting, commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork included. Long pipe runs, difficult access and a new circuit affect where your job sits in the range.

Looking after it afterwards

Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. Our tips:

  • Keep the room closed while it runs
  • Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
  • Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
  • Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends

We recommend an annual service, and some manufacturers make regular servicing a condition of their warranty. We can remind you when it’s due if you’d like.

Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing you can do. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, so it uses less electricity for the same comfort.

CM5: your questions answered

Will you need to do electrical work?

In most cases, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us in CM5 and across Essex. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes, every time. We diagnose before we treat: the survey tells us what the job needs and how to do it, and the quote is based on that.

How soon will you get back to me?

You’ll hear from us the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.

Is air conditioning possible in a flat?

It depends on the building and the lease. An outdoor unit can sometimes go on a balcony, roof or rear wall, with consent and the survey looks at every option. This is general information, not legal advice.

Which type of air conditioning is best?

It depends on the rooms and the building. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.

Can I do the refrigerant work myself?

Not the refrigerant work. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
