How we handle air source heat pumps in Wrecclesham
For an air-to-water heat pump, the price is £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes), before the grant. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme can provide £7,500 towards an eligible air-to-water system in England and Wales, and as the installer we apply for it on your behalf. Not every home qualifies, so we check eligibility before you commit. If you’re dealing with checking eligibility for a heat pump grant and plans to switch to electric heating with a heat pump, we can sort it out.
Whether a home near Wrecclesham has mains gas makes a difference to the grant. Homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas can get an extra £1,500 on the Boiler Upgrade Scheme until March 2027, for an air source or ground source heat pump.
Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we set them out on your quote. Each brand sets its own conditions, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

Hot water cylinders
An air-to-water heat pump heats hot water through a cylinder. Space for the cylinder is part of the survey particularly in homes with a combi boiler.
What happens on the day
Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. So on the day, you do not need a separate electrician for the electrical side. On site, it takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes. Photos of the room and the outside wall help us plan a job near Wrecclesham.
- It starts with a conversation about the home, the existing heating and your plans.
- A heat loss survey works out how much heat each room needs, and we look at the radiators, the cylinder space and where the outdoor unit could go.
- The price comes back fixed and in writing, with the grant and VAT shown line by line.
- Installation covers the outdoor unit, the indoor connections and the controls.
- We commission the heat pump, complete the MCS paperwork and talk you through the controls.
Before we arrive
- Clear the space around the indoor unit, or where it will go
- Clear access to the fuse board
- Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in

Advice
What happens if it’s left?
Getting the sizing wrong causes problems that are hard to fix later. A room-by-room survey gets it right first time. Dealing with it now is normally simpler than a breakdown later.
Typical ranges are on our prices page, but your price depends on the job in front of us. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we’ll talk you through it.

Questions from Wrecclesham
Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in Wrecclesham?
Yes, the scheme covers homes in England, including Wrecclesham, if they qualify. Air-to-water and ground source systems attract £7,500. Air-to-air gets £2,500, but only where it takes over from fossil-fuel heating and covers the whole home’s heating demand. As an MCS certified installer, we apply for it on your behalf.
Do you cover smaller places like Wrecclesham?
Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. We are based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
Which accreditations do you hold?
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are also Checkatrade members.
Should I choose air-to-water or air-to-air?
Air-to-water replaces the boiler for heating and hot water, while air-to-air heats and cools rooms. The survey helps decide. Both are part of what we install.
When will I hear back?
We reply to enquiries the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.
Will my radiators work with a heat pump?
It varies from room to room. The survey compares each radiator with the room’s needs and the quote shows what’s needed.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting and managing agents, and businesses of every size across London and the South East. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.
Heat pumps in Wrecclesham: local notes
Census 2021 figures found about 75% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Detached and semi-detached houses usually have room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder. Roughly a third of a mile or less from central Wrecclesham, you reach the Wrecclesham Conservation Area. Knights Almshouses, listed at grade II, is one of roughly 24 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Wrecclesham’s centre. So the heat pump survey asks two extra questions here: is the home listed, and is it inside a conservation area?
Farnham Castle lies about 1.6 miles north-east. Owners of listed homes need consent before a heat pump is fitted, so it’s one of our first questions. Live in one of the older houses around St Peter's Church? Expect the survey to look closely at heat loss and at the building’s planning status.
