Air source heat pumps in Winsor

Until 31 March 2027, a heat pump installed in residential accommodation carries 0% VAT, with 5% from 1 April 2027. That follows HMRC Notice 708/6, and it does not apply to businesses. For air-to-air systems, we confirm the VAT on your quote. Please treat this as general information rather than tax advice. The work covers homes heated by oil, LPG or gas, air-to-water heat pumps and underfloor heating, and the jobs we see most are a boiler that’s getting old and deciding on the outdoor unit position.

For a home around Winsor that is off mains gas and heated by oil or LPG, an extra £1,500 is available through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme until March 2027, on top of the £7,500.

Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of their warranty. Where yours does, a regular service with us keeps that side in order, and every service is written up.

Looking after your system

Systems last better with the right care. We suggest:

  • Store the MCS certificate and warranty documents together
  • Book a yearly service
  • Check eligibility for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme early

The warranty on the heat pump is the manufacturer’s, on its own terms. We explain the terms for your brand, including any servicing conditions.

Book a service every year. Check the manufacturer’s terms, as they may include servicing conditions.

How it works

The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: diagnose, treat and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then the work itself, and finally we test, record and explain. The middle part takes longest, and that takes anything from a couple of days for air-to-air to the best part of a week for air-to-water with radiator changes. Visits to Winsor are agreed with you in advance and planned so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We talk through your home, your current heating and what you want from a heat pump.
  2. On the visit we calculate what every room loses on a cold day, then check the radiators, room for a cylinder and outdoor unit options.
  3. You get a fixed-price quote, with any grant you are eligible for and the VAT explained.
  4. Fitting day: the outdoor unit is placed, the indoor side connected and the controls set up.
  5. We commission the heat pump, complete the MCS paperwork and talk you through the controls.

Getting a price

Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by pictures or a survey, the price is fixed. To start, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.

Winsor: your questions answered

Will a heat pump in Winsor need planning permission?

There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. The Forest North East Conservation Area takes in the middle of Winsor. On a house, an air source heat pump can often go ahead under permitted development, with an outdoor unit of no more than 1.5 cubic metres and an installation that meets MCS 020(a), which includes a noise check. Those rights do not reach the grounds of a listed building, and conservation areas rule out walls or roofs facing a road. If that might affect you, we ask New Forest council, which is usually the planning authority for Winsor.

Is the heat pump grant available in Winsor?

Winsor is in England, where the Boiler Upgrade Scheme runs. Whether your home qualifies, and for how much, depends on the type of heat pump and the heating it replaces. As an MCS certified installer, we apply for it on your behalf.

How do you keep the place clean during the work?

We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and we tidy up as we go. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.

Are my radiators big enough for a heat pump?

It varies from room to room. We check them all during the survey, so the quote covers any changes.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting and managing agents, and businesses of every size across London and the South East. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while larger systems and faults that need testing are seen on site.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.

Air source heat pumps around Winsor

Census 2021 figures found about 90% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Houses normally have space for an outdoor unit and a hot water cylinder.

Sizing comes from the heat each room loses on a cold day, not from the size of the old boiler. Period properties close to Church of St Mary can suit a heat pump, though insulation and any heritage protection are checked first.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Winsor

Whether it’s one property or many, you get the same standard: diagnosis, a fixed price, access agreed with the people on site and paperwork at the end.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease or tenancy agreement normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party and send the records to whoever needs them.

Pricing air source heat pumps in Winsor

You will get a fixed price before work begins. It takes into account:

  • Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
  • How many units are involved
  • Access, including height, roofs and ladders

Every job is different, so we price each one individually. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all make a difference.

Helping us quote

When you call or email, it’s useful to have:

  • Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
  • The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
  • Any error code or flashing light on the display

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Tell us the address and what you need, and many jobs can be priced from that.
