Air source heat pumps in Townhill Park: the local picture
About 41% of homes in and around Townhill Park date from 1945 to 1972, according to VOA council tax data, and Census 2021 figures found about 64% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. For homes of that age, the survey checks the insulation, the radiators and the hot water setup. Houses normally have space for an outdoor unit and a hot water cylinder.
With South Stoneham House about 0.9 miles north-west, it’s worth asking whether your own home is listed before planning a heat pump. Live in one of the older houses around St. Mary's Church? Expect the survey to look closely at heat loss and at the building’s planning status.

About our air source heat pumps in Townhill Park
Heat pumps run at lower flow temperatures than most boilers which means some radiators may need upsizing. The survey shows which rooms are fine and which need changes and anything that needs changing is in the quote. The work covers air-to-air heat pumps, hot water cylinders and radiator systems, and common reasons people get in touch are moving away from fossil-fuel heating and choosing between air-to-water and air-to-air.
Whether a home near Townhill Park has mains gas makes a difference to the grant. Homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas can get an extra £1,500 on the Boiler Upgrade Scheme until March 2027.
Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we explain those terms on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

When it’s something else
An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what air source heat pumps won’t do:
- Insulation work, such as loft or cavity wall insulation
- A grant for a home that doesn’t meet the scheme rules
- Getting planning permission or listed building consent on your behalf
Not sure which it is? You can phone 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Questions from Townhill Park
Is planning permission needed for a heat pump in Townhill Park?
There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. The Itchen Valley Conservation Area is close to the centre of Townhill Park. A heat pump on a house can be permitted development if it meets the conditions, including the MCS noise check, but not within the grounds of a listed building, and in a conservation area the outdoor unit can’t face a road. Where needed, we check with Southampton council, which is normally the planning authority for Townhill Park.
Do you cover smaller places like Townhill Park?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, with visits at the interval your system and the manufacturer need. Each visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting and managing agents, and businesses of every size across London and the South East. Let us know who the records should go to.
What accreditations do you have?
F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and the area is kept tidy throughout. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.
Is there VAT on a heat pump?
Under HMRC Notice 708/6, a heat pump installed in a home is zero-rated until 31 March 2027 and 5% after that. For air-to-air systems, we confirm the VAT on your quote.
What the work involves, system by system
Air-to-air heat pumps
Air-to-air heat pumps are now covered by permitted development rules in England, subject to conditions. Cooling-only units are not included and need a check with the council.
Air-to-water heat pumps
An air-to-water heat pump costs £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes), before the grant. A £7,500 grant may be available through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme for eligible homes and the installer applies.
For landlords and property managers
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements, and we’ll send a fixed-price quote.
For anyone managing more than one building, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Each property gets its own records, so the files stay tidy.
The process
You don’t need to do much on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and the rest is down to us. Before we leave, the area is tidied and we explain what we have done. Tell us about any gates or steps at your property near Townhill Park when you book.
- We start with your plans and the property.
- The survey checks heat loss, emitters, hot water and the outdoor unit position.
- We recommend air-to-water or air-to-air and check the grant position.
- We install the heat pump and connect it up.
- The job ends with commissioning, the MCS certificate and a walk through the controls.
How to prepare
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
- Clear access to the fuse board
- Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow
How to get a quote
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because every property is different. Once we have looked at the job, from photos or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To get going, phone us on 07833 053749 or email us.
