Air source heat pumps in Longmoor, done properly
Air-to-air heat pumps can qualify for a £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, but only in some cases. It has to replace the fossil-fuel heating, cover the whole heating demand, be fitted by an MCS certified installer and be in a home, so an add-on next to a boiler is not eligible. We are often asked to deal with plans to switch to electric heating with a heat pump and questions about the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, across hot water cylinders, radiator systems and air-to-water heat pumps.
In a place like Longmoor, some homes are listed, and permitted development doesn’t cover listed buildings, so we check consent first.
Aftercare is simple, and most of it is in the manual: keep the outdoor unit clear, follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and book a service at the interval they recommend. It also keeps you on the right side of any warranty terms that ask for servicing.

Longmoor: your questions answered
Is Longmoor in your area for air source heat pumps?
We do: Longmoor falls inside our working area. To start, call 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form with a few photos.
Is the heat pump grant available in Longmoor?
Yes, the scheme covers homes in England, including Longmoor, if they qualify. It gives £7,500 towards an air-to-water or ground source heat pump, or £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump that replaces the fossil-fuel heating and meets the whole home’s heating need. The installer applies, and we are MCS certified.
Are you F-Gas certified?
We are an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are members of Checkatrade too.
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including any issues with how it was fitted. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.
What does an air-to-water heat pump cost?
Air-to-water systems are £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes), before any grant. The final price depends on the heat loss survey, the radiators and the cylinder, and you get a fixed-price quote.
Which manufacturers do you install and repair?
The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and explain why.
Before you call an engineer
Owner care supports servicing; it doesn’t replace it. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.
Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.
How the visit works
Our engineers arrive at the time agreed with you and check the plan with you first. Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets, and the electrics are made safe before any panel comes off. On site, it takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes. Visits to Longmoor are agreed with you in advance and planned so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
- First, a chat about the property and your goals for the heating.
- We survey for heat loss and look at radiators, cylinder space and outdoor unit options.
- You get our view on the right type for the house, and on whether the Boiler Upgrade Scheme applies.
- We install the heat pump and connect it up.
- After commissioning, you get the MCS certificate and a handover.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
- Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow
- Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records
How to get a quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Tell us the address and what you need, and many jobs can be priced from that.

Common problems we fix in Longmoor
Homes off the gas grid, heated by oil or LPG, are often good candidates to look at. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme includes an extra £1,500, until March 2027, for air source or ground source heat pumps in homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas where the home is eligible.
These are the situations we see most often:
- Working out whether radiators need upsizing
- Deciding on the outdoor unit position
- Replacing a combi boiler with a heat pump
Grant applications go through the MCS certified installer, so that part is handled for you.
