Air source heat pumps in Littleton Common

Installing an air source heat pump in a home is zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027, then 5%. This is HMRC’s energy-saving materials relief, which applies to homes rather than businesses. For air-to-air systems, we confirm the VAT on your quote. Please treat this as general information rather than tax advice. If you are dealing with finding a place for the outdoor unit and planning and permitted development questions, we can help.

Older and listed homes in villages like Littleton Common need extra care, and permitted development does not cover listed buildings, so we check consent first.

For a fault on a system that may still be under warranty, send us the make, model and installation date. We’ll tell you how the manufacturer’s warranty is likely to apply before any chargeable work goes ahead.

The process

We book the visit for a day and time that suit you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your photos or the details you gave us. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. After that, it takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. A note on how to find the property and where to park makes a visit to Littleton Common easier.

  1. We start with your plans and the property.
  2. We survey for heat loss and look at radiators, cylinder space and outdoor unit options.
  3. You get our view on the right type for the house, and on whether the Boiler Upgrade Scheme applies.
  4. Installation follows on the agreed dates.
  5. After commissioning, you get the MCS certificate and a handover.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
  • Keep pets and children away from the work area
  • Mention any parking restrictions near the property

How to get a quote

Here’s what helps us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, a few pictures, the brand and model of anything already fitted and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Then ring 07833 053749 or use the quote form.

What air source heat pumps cannot fix

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • Planning decisions, which rest with the council
  • Gas boiler work, such as disconnecting the old boiler, which needs a Gas Safe registered engineer
  • Grants for hybrid systems or replacements of low-carbon systems

If in doubt, call us on 07833 053749 or send an email and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on in Littleton Common

  • Hot water cylinders
  • Homes heated by oil, LPG or gas
  • Underfloor heating
  • Air-to-air heat pumps

What happens if it’s left?

A sudden boiler failure rarely leaves room to plan a heat pump properly. Surveying and designing in advance means the system is sized right and any grant is applied for before you need the heat. Getting the date in early helps for a place like Littleton Common.

Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we’ll go through it with you.

Littleton Common questions

Will you come out to Littleton Common?

Yes. Littleton Common is within the area we cover across London and the South East. We are based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in Littleton Common?

Yes, if the home and the heat pump meet the scheme’s rules: Littleton Common is in England, where it applies. The grant is £7,500 for an air source (air-to-water) heat pump and £2,500 for an air-to-air system that replaces the existing fossil-fuel heating. As an MCS certified installer, we apply for it on your behalf.

Are you F-Gas certified?

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are also Checkatrade members.

Do you provide F-Gas records?

Yes. You get a written record of every visit, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.

How much time does a heat pump install need?

The work takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes. The survey lets us set a firm programme, so ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk to arrange one.

Will my radiators work with a heat pump?

The heat loss survey answers that, room by room. Where a radiator is already large enough, it stays and any changes are in the quote.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

Common problems we fix in Littleton Common

For homes with no mains gas, heated by oil or LPG, a heat pump is well worth considering. Until March 2027, an extra £1,500 is available for air source and ground source heat pumps in homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas where the home is eligible.

Look out for these signs:

  • A boiler that’s getting old
  • Replacing a combi boiler with a heat pump
  • Checking whether planning permission is needed

If your home is listed, like Hampton Court Palace about 4.8 miles east, listed building consent comes before any heat pump work.

Before you book anyone

  • Who does the electrical work, and whether they can certify it
