The quote reflects the job in front of us. We consider:

  • The condition of any existing system
  • The pipe route between the units
  • One-off work versus a regular service cycle

Putting several jobs into one visit can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every unit or room you need covered, and you will get one fixed price.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can send:

  • Wide pictures of the room or the existing unit
  • The make and model of the system, from the label
  • The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business

VAT is set out clearly on every quote, with the rate that applies to your job. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. To get one, ring 07833 053749 or drop us a line.

Air source heat pumps in Kings Hill

We install air source heat pumps in Kings Hill and across Kent, and we are MCS certified. There are two kinds: air-to-water, which heats radiators or underfloor heating and your hot water, and air-to-air, which warms rooms through indoor units and can also cool. We help you work out which suits your home. The work covers hot water cylinders, homes heated by oil, LPG or gas and radiator systems, and people most often call us about comparing heat pump types and a boiler that’s getting old.

Whether a home near Kings Hill has mains gas makes a difference to the grant. Until March 2027, homes on oil or LPG without mains gas can get an extra £1,500 through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

Equipment warranty comes from the manufacturer, on its own terms, and we explain those terms on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

Before you call an engineer

Some faults have simple causes you can check first: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and phone 07833 053749.

Keep a note of anything odd: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo of the display helps even more.

How the visit works

Each visit runs to the same pattern: agree the plan on site, put the dust sheets down, do the work, test what we have done and talk you through it. On site, the work takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes. We plan the visit to Kings Hill from the survey or your pictures.

  1. First we find out about the property, the heating you have now and what you’re hoping for.
  2. On the visit we calculate what every room loses on a cold day, then check the radiators, room for a cylinder and outdoor unit options.
  3. The price comes back fixed and in writing, with the grant and VAT shown line by line.
  4. The outdoor unit, the indoor equipment and the controls are installed and connected.
  5. We commission the heat pump, complete the MCS paperwork and talk you through the controls.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need
  • Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records
  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in

Advice

Questions from Kings Hill

Is a heat pump in Kings Hill permitted development?

It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. Historic England lists about 3 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Kings Hill. The permitted development rules for heat pumps leave out listed buildings and stop outdoor units going on road-facing walls or roofs in conservation areas. Anything outside the rules needs an application, and we raise it with Tonbridge and Malling council, which is normally the planning authority for Kings Hill first.

Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Kings Hill?

Yes, the scheme covers homes in England, including Kings Hill, if they qualify. Air-to-water and ground source systems attract £7,500. Air-to-air gets £2,500, but only where it takes over from fossil-fuel heating and covers the whole home’s heating demand. You do not apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.

Do I need new radiators for a heat pump?

We find out during the survey. Rooms where the radiator is big enough stay as they are and any changes are in the quote.

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

It’s the manufacturer’s, and the terms are theirs. Some brands make regular servicing a condition so it’s worth keeping the service records.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

Will I get records for the system?

Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some warranty terms require the system to be serviced regularly by a qualified engineer, so it’s worth checking. Keep every service record either way.

Rented and managed buildings

Bigger systems bring extra duties: systems with an effective rated output over 12 kW need a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements, and we’ll send a fixed-price quote.

Homes in Kings Hill and heat pumps

About 58% of homes in Kings Hill and the neighbourhoods around it have been built since 2000, according to the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures, and Census 2021 figures found about 73% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Lower heat loss in recent homes often means a smaller heat pump and fewer radiator changes. Finding room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder is seldom a problem in homes like these.

If your home is listed, like Old Soar Manor about 3.7 miles west, listed building consent comes before any heat pump work. Period properties close to Church of St John the Baptist can suit a heat pump, though insulation and any heritage protection are checked first.

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
