Air source heat pumps in Kenardington
Until 31 March 2027, a heat pump installed in residential accommodation carries 0% VAT, with 5% from 1 April 2027. That follows HMRC Notice 708/6, and it does not apply to businesses, and for air-to-air systems we confirm the VAT on your quote. This is general information, not tax advice. Common call-outs are for comparing heat pump types and an oil, LPG or gas boiler near the end of its life, across hot water cylinders, homes heated by oil, LPG or gas and air-to-water heat pumps.
Older and listed homes in villages like Kenardington need extra care, and permitted development doesn’t cover listed buildings, so we check consent first.
Equipment warranty comes from the manufacturer, on its own terms, and we set them out on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

How the job changes from property to property
VAT on heat pumps
HMRC says most air conditioning units are air source heat pumps, but each case depends on the facts, so we confirm the VAT on your quote.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme covers England and Wales: £7,500 for air-to-water (and ground source), and £2,500 for air-to-air with strict conditions. The installer applies.
The process
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you and check the plan with you first. Dust sheets go down over floors and anything close to the work, and the electrics are made safe before any panel comes off. On site, it takes a few days for most air-to-water installations, with air-to-air systems often quicker. Pictures of the space and where the outdoor unit could go let us plan the work in Kenardington.
- Step one is understanding the house, how it’s heated today and what you’d like to change.
- On the visit we calculate what every room loses on a cold day, then check the radiators, room for a cylinder and outdoor unit options.
- The price comes back fixed and in writing, with the grant and VAT shown line by line.
- Fitting day: the outdoor unit is placed, the indoor side connected and the controls set up.
- Once it’s running correctly, the MCS certificate is issued and we show you the settings.

What we’re called out for in Kenardington
For homes with no mains gas, heated by oil or LPG, a heat pump is well worth considering. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme includes an extra £1,500, until March 2027, for air source or ground source heat pumps in homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas where the home is eligible.
Any of these is worth a proper look:
- Questions about where the outdoor unit can go
- A boiler that is getting old
- Plans to switch to electric heating with a heat pump
Older homes near Church of St Mary may need extra checks for planning and heat loss before a heat pump is designed.

Why act early in Kenardington
Radiators that are too small for a heat pump’s lower flow temperature leave rooms cool. The survey picks this up before installation. A dirty or faulty system works harder and costs more to run.

FAQs for Kenardington
Is the heat pump grant available in Kenardington?
Yes, the scheme covers homes in England, including Kenardington, if they qualify. For an air-to-water heat pump the amount is £7,500; an air-to-air system can get £2,500 if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating outright, meets the home’s full heating demand and isn’t an add-on to a boiler. We hold MCS certification, so the application is ours to make for you.
Do you cover smaller places like Kenardington?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A few photos and the postcode are enough to get things started.
How much time does a heat pump install need?
An installation takes anything from a couple of days for air-to-air to the best part of a week for air-to-water with radiator changes. We confirm the timing after the survey, and you can call us on 07833 053749 or drop us a line to book it.
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine from all the leading brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
When will I hear back?
The same working day. Then we agree a date that works for you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Is the equipment covered by a warranty?
It’s the manufacturer’s, and the terms are theirs. Some brands make regular servicing a condition so it’s worth keeping the service records.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
A customer’s words
“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
