Iford air source heat pumps
We cover Iford for air source heat pumps. Diagnosis first, a fixed price and proper paperwork when we finish.

About our air source heat pumps in Iford
Air-to-water heat pumps heat your hot water through a cylinder. Homes with a combi boiler may not have a cylinder, so finding space for one is part of the survey. Air-to-air systems don’t heat hot water, so you’ll need another way to do that. If the problem is working out whether radiators need upsizing and deciding on the outdoor unit position, we can help.
In a place like Iford, some homes are listed, because permitted development doesn’t apply within the grounds of a listed building, so consent comes first.
Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of their warranty. Where yours does, a regular service with us keeps that side in order, and every service is written up.

What happens if it’s left?
The extra £1,500 for homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas is available until March 2027. For homes that qualify, that’s a reason to look into it now. Waiting rarely makes an air conditioning problem smaller.
Our prices page shows typical ranges, but each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed-price quote, call 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk, and we will talk you through it.

How it works
The visit goes in the diary at a time that works for you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. When we arrive, we check the job against the survey or the photos you sent. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. After that, it takes a few days for most air-to-water installations, with air-to-air systems often quicker. If a lane or gateway near Iford is tight for a van, let us know and we will plan for it.
- Step one is understanding the house, how it’s heated today and what you’d like to change.
- The survey measures heat loss room by room and looks at radiators, hot water and the best spot for the outdoor unit.
- We send a fixed-price quote that shows the equipment, the grant position and the VAT.
- Installation covers the outdoor unit, the indoor connections and the controls.
- We commission the heat pump, complete the MCS paperwork and talk you through the controls.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
- Mention any parking restrictions near the property
- Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
Ask for a quote
Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because every property is different. After a look at the job, by photos or a survey, the price is fixed. To get going, call us on 07833 053749 or email us.

Outdoor unit position and planning
Flats and blocks of flats have different limits, and Article 4 directions can remove rights. Listed buildings also need separate consent and we check what applies to you.

About 45 miles out from central London, Iford is part of the South East area we work across.
Live in one of the older houses around St Pancras Church (Kingston near Lewes)? Expect the survey to look closely at heat loss and at the building’s planning status. With Monk's House about 1.4 miles south-east, it’s worth asking whether your own home is listed before planning a heat pump.

- Any gas work on the existing boiler
- Formal advice on VAT for your situation
- Getting planning permission or listed building consent on your behalf

Your questions about air source heat pumps in Iford
Will you come out to Iford?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.
Do I need planning permission for a heat pump in Iford?
That depends on the building and where the outdoor unit goes. Central Iford is a short walk from the Iford Conservation Area. The permitted development rules for heat pumps leave out listed buildings and stop outdoor units going on road-facing walls or roofs in conservation areas. Anything outside the rules needs an application, and we raise it with Lewes council, which is normally the planning authority for Iford first.
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
We start with protection: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.
Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant?
It depends on your home and the system. The scheme gives £7,500 for eligible air-to-water or ground source systems, and £2,500 for air-to-air only under strict conditions. We check before you commit.
Which accreditations do you hold?
We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We are also Checkatrade members.
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. For simple jobs, pictures and a few details can be enough, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, we work the same way: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.
From one of our customers
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
