Air source heat pumps in Eton, done properly

As an MCS certified installer, we fit air source heat pumps for homes in Eton and the rest of Windsor and Maidenhead. Air-to-water systems feed your radiators or underfloor heating and hot water cylinder, while air-to-air systems heat rooms directly through indoor units and can cool them too. We help you work out which suits your home. The work covers air-to-air heat pumps, hot water cylinders and homes heated by oil, LPG or gas, and people most often call us about questions about listed buildings or conservation areas and replacing a combi boiler with a heat pump.

If your home in or near Eton is heated by oil, LPG or electric heaters with no mains gas, an extra £1,500 is available through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme until March 2027, on top of the £7,500.

If a fault appears while the equipment is under the manufacturer’s warranty, tell us the make, model and installation date. We’ll tell you how the manufacturer’s warranty is likely to apply before anything chargeable is done.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements, and we’ll send a fixed-price quote.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease or tenancy agreement normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party, and the paperwork can go to both.

Why deal with it now?

Replacing a boiler in a hurry when it breaks leaves little time to consider a heat pump. Planning ahead gives time for the heat loss survey, the design and the grant application while the old heating still works. A system that’s left with a fault, or without a service, usually costs more to run.

What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and what the work involves. You get a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.

Why people in Eton choose us

  • Warranty terms set out brand by brand
  • A fixed price before any work starts
  • Leading brands including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu
  • MCS certification for heat pump work

What happens on the day

Protection comes first: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby and nothing is moved without asking you. Then the electrics are made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes, and we clear up before we go. Visits to Eton are agreed with you in advance and planned so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. It starts with a conversation about the home, the existing heating and your plans.
  2. We survey the home room by room for heat loss, and check the emitters, hot water and outdoor unit position.
  3. The price comes back fixed and in writing, with the grant and VAT shown line by line.
  4. Installation covers the outdoor unit, the indoor connections and the controls.
  5. Once it’s running correctly, the MCS certificate is issued and we show you the settings.

Before we arrive

  • Clear a path to the units and the space around them
  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
  • Keep pets and children away from the work area

Getting a price

Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because every property is different. After a look at the job, by pictures or a survey, the price is fixed. To start, phone 07833 053749 or use the quote form.

Questions from Eton

Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in Eton?

Eton is in England, where the Boiler Upgrade Scheme runs. For an air-to-water heat pump the amount is £7,500; an air-to-air system can get £2,500 if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating outright, meets the home’s full heating demand and is not an add-on to a boiler. You don’t apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.

Will you come out to Eton?

Yes. Eton is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Do I need planning permission for a heat pump?

Under the Planning Portal rules, a heat pump on a house can often be permitted development. Listed buildings and their curtilages are excluded, and listed building consent is a separate matter, so we check for your property.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. We always look before we price, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. Then you get a fixed-price quote.

Can I do the refrigerant work myself?

No, not the refrigerant side. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns that cannot wait. Call 07833 053749 and tell us what’s happened.

Will you make a mess?

Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets before work begins, and the area is kept tidy throughout. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.

Air source heat pumps around Eton

VOA council tax data put about 39% of homes in Eton and the neighbourhoods around it before 1919. In older homes, the heat loss calculation is especially important, as solid walls and draughts change the size of heat pump needed. Central Eton is inside a conservation area. On the National Heritage List, around 85 entries fall within 0.5 miles of the middle of Eton; Lower Chapel (grade II*) is one. So the heat pump survey asks two extra questions here: is the home listed, and is it inside a conservation area?

If your home is near Windsor & Eton Riverside station and heated by a gas boiler, an air-to-water heat pump can replace it where the survey shows it suits.

Do you need air source heat pumps in Eton?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme has made people ask whether their home could qualify. Whether you can get the grant depends on your home and the scheme conditions and we confirm it before you go ahead.

Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • Plans to switch to electric heating with a heat pump
  • Checking emitters for a heat pump
  • Deciding which kind of heat pump suits the home

With Windsor Castle about 0.7 miles south, it’s worth asking whether your own home is listed before planning a heat pump.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Which brand and model they’re proposing, and why
  • Who does the electrical work, and whether they can certify it
  • Whether you get F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved
