Commercial air conditioning in Wells-in-the-Field
Heating, cooling and fresh air often go together. Air conditioning systems can heat as well as cool, and we also install ventilation and MVHR for a joined-up system. If the problem is R410A systems getting dearer to top up and server rooms running too warm, we can sort it out.
For a hall or similar building near Wells-in-the-Field, an air-to-air system that responds quickly suits intermittent use.
Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we explain those terms on your quote. Each brand sets its own conditions, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

What we’re called out for in Wells-in-the-Field
Older systems running on R410A face rising costs for top-ups as the GB HFC phase-down tightens supply. Repairs on existing R410A systems remain legal though it’s worth bearing in mind when planning ahead.
Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:
- Planning ahead for the HFC phase-down
- Systems that need out-of-hours or phased installation
- Workspaces that overheat on warm days
If you look after a church or hall such as St Nicholas' Church, an air-to-air system that warms up quickly can suit a building used on and off, subject to the right consents.

Questions from Wells-in-the-Field
Do you cover Wells-in-the-Field for commercial air conditioning?
Yes. Wells-in-the-Field is one of the places we cover. To start, ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with a few pictures.
Is planning permission needed for air conditioning in Wells-in-the-Field?
There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. There’s a conservation area, the Laverstoke and Freefolk Conservation Area, close to central Wells-in-the-Field. Put simply: reversible systems on houses can be permitted development, cooling-only ones can’t, listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas limit outdoor units facing a road. When your property needs a decision, we contact the planning department at Basingstoke and Deane council, normally the authority for Wells-in-the-Field.
What does the operator have to do under the F-gas rules?
For systems at or above 5 tCO2e, the operator must have leak checks carried out and keep records. The intervals are at least yearly from 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and 6-monthly from 50 to under 500 tCO2e and we carry out the checks and keep the records.
How long will it take to install air conditioning in our building?
An installation takes a matter of days for a modest fit-out, with larger buildings phased floor by floor or zone by zone. The survey lets us set a firm programme, so ring us on 07833 053749 or send an email to arrange one.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.
How quickly will you reply?
On the same working day you contact us. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Do you protect the property while you work?
Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Holes and fixings are agreed with you, and we clean up afterwards before we leave.
How the visit works
Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we show you what we have done and answer any questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. All told, the work takes a few days for a small shop or office, longer for VRF across several floors. Work in Wells-in-the-Field is booked in advance at a time that suits you.
- An engineer walks the building with you to understand its layout, its users and its heat sources.
- The written quote is fixed and lists the plant, where it goes and the order of works.
- The work is planned around your opening hours, with out-of-hours or phased work where it helps.
- On site, the team mounts the plant, runs and proves the pipework, and wires the controls.
- Finally it’s commissioned and handed over, with the refrigerant records and manuals for your files.
How to prepare
- Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records
- Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
- Keep pets and children away from the work area
Get a fixed-price quote
Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.
