Commercial air conditioning in Stratford

Commercial air conditioning in Stratford, done properly

Commercial air conditioning is a big part of what we do, for businesses in Stratford and the rest of Greater London. Offices, shops, restaurants, hotels, schools and server rooms all come with different demands and we choose the system to suit the space and the way it’s used. If the problem is TM44 recommendations that need acting on and missing F-gas records for commercial systems, we can help.

London buildings in Stratford can have little space for outdoor plant, so roofs, light wells and basements are common positions. VRF systems can serve many indoor units from a small number of outdoor units, which helps in dense areas.

Aftercare is simple, and most of it is in the manual: keep the outdoor unit clear, follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and book a service at the interval they recommend. That also helps where the warranty terms ask for regular servicing.

Before you call an engineer

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

How it works

Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we show you what we have done and answer any questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. All told, the work takes as long as the site and the system need, from a short install to a phased project planned around opening hours. Photos of the room and where the outdoor unit could go let us plan most of a visit to Stratford in advance.

  1. We start with the details of the building and the problem.
  2. A site survey confirms the heat load, the layout and the access.
  3. We set out the options, the price and the programme.
  4. Installation goes ahead around the business.
  5. The system is commissioned and maintenance can be arranged.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children away from the work area
  • Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board

Getting a quote

Getting a quote is straightforward. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day. If we need to see the property first, we book a survey at a time that works for you.

Stratford questions

Do you cover Stratford for commercial air conditioning?

We do: Stratford falls inside our working area. Just ring 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form with a few details.

Do I need permission to put air conditioning in my flat in Stratford?

Usually, yes, though leaseholders normally need the freeholder’s agreement. We look at where the outdoor unit could go, such as a balcony, flat roof or rear wall, and write it up for the freeholder or agent.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We’ll work out which band applies to yours.

How often is a TM44 inspection needed?

Where the air conditioning is over 12 kW, an inspection is needed at least every 5 years. It’s carried out by an accredited energy assessor and we can help before and after.

Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?

No, not the refrigerant side. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.

How much time does a commercial air con install need?

A typical installation takes a matter of days for a modest fit-out, with larger buildings phased floor by floor or zone by zone. Phased or out-of-hours work may extend it though it keeps disruption down.

What warranty do I get?

The manufacturer provides it, on its own terms. Some terms depend on regular servicing by a qualified engineer, so keep your service records.

What you pay depends on the system and the number of rooms or units, the access and the parts and time the job needs. You get a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.

Business air conditioning in Stratford

Food Standards Agency data counts about 496 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens, about 17 hotels and guest houses and about 51 schools and colleges within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Stratford. Kitchens and dining rooms gain heat quickly, and hotels need quiet units in guest rooms, so each is designed for its use. Valuation Office Agency council tax records show about 55% of homes in and around Stratford were built in 2000 or later, and about 73% of households live in flats, according to Census 2021 figures. Where shops and offices sit below or beside homes, outdoor plant position and noise need extra care. For London businesses, plant position, noise and access are planned with the building first.

For a church or hall like Church of St John the Evangelist, any outdoor unit needs the right consents first. Healthcare premises near Queen Mary's Hospital for the East End need air conditioning that’s easy to clean and maintained on a schedule.
