Installation is only the start. Maintenance contracts cover servicing, F-gas leak checks and the records that go with them, at a price fixed with your quote. Our 24/7 emergency line is there if something goes wrong. Typical jobs include offices that get too hot in summer and server rooms running too warm, across VRF systems, multi-split systems and wall-mounted split systems.

Around Spencers Wood, many businesses choose systems that heat as well as cool, which can replace old heaters in shops and offices.

Aftercare is simple, and most of it is in the manual: keep the outdoor unit clear, follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and book a service at the interval they recommend. It also keeps you on the right side of any warranty terms that ask for servicing.

Owner checks or an engineer?

Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.

Spencers Wood questions

Is planning permission needed for air conditioning in Spencers Wood?

That depends on the building and where the outdoor unit goes. A conservation area takes in the middle of Spencers Wood. A system that heats as well as cools may not need an application on a house, provided it stays within the permitted development limits. Cooling-only units get no such allowance, and listed buildings and road-facing positions in conservation areas need more care. We speak to the planning department at Wokingham council, usually the authority for Spencers Wood when it matters.

Will you come out to Spencers Wood?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

Do you carry out TM44 inspections?

We don’t carry out the inspection itself, as it needs an accredited energy assessor. Our part is getting the system ready and doing the follow-up work.

Do you protect the property while you work?

Protection goes down first: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Holes and fixings are agreed with you, and we clean up afterwards before we leave.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, we work the same way: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.

What does the operator have to do under the F-gas rules?

Responsibility is shared between the operator and the certified technicians who work on the system. The operator needs to arrange leak checks and keep records where the system requires them and we handle that for you.

The process

You do not need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in and show us the units, or where they’re going, and the rest is down to us. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you. In a place like Spencers Wood, parking is rarely an issue, but tell us about gates and access to the back of the property.

  1. You tell us about the building and what’s needed.
  2. We survey the site to check heat gains, layout and access.
  3. The options, cost and timing are set out in a fixed-price quote.
  4. We install around your hours, phased where needed.
  5. The system is commissioned and maintenance can be arranged.

How to prepare

  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
  • Keep pets and children away from the work area
  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in

Getting a quote is straightforward. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits you.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:

  • Note the 5-yearly TM44 date for systems over 12 kW
  • Don’t let servicing slip
  • Keep F-gas records together and up to date

Once the system is commissioned, we hand over the records, the controls and the manufacturer documents. Keep them together for future servicing and inspections.

Replace ageing systems on your own timetable especially where top-up refrigerant is getting harder to buy.

For landlords and property managers

Records are where property maintenance often slips. Each visit is written up, plus the F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved, ready for a tenant, a buyer or an inspection.

Whether it’s one property or many, you get the same standard: diagnosis, a fixed price, access agreed with the people on site and paperwork at the end.

A customer’s words

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
