Air conditioning in Brighton and Hove: how it works
The best installations are planned before a single hole is drilled. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, and we agree the unit positions and the route for the pipes, cable and drain before you get a fixed-price quote. Common call-outs are for a portable unit with a hose out of the window and a business premises that overheats in summer, across multi-split systems, ducted systems and air-to-air heat pumps.
Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we show you what we have done and answer any questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. The visit takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
- On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.
What you’ll pay
Leaving a fault or an overdue service rarely makes the work cheaper. Faults and wear in a system tend to grow, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you’re not sure what’s needed, phone 07833 053749 or drop us a line for straight advice and a fixed price.

Air conditioning around Brighton and Hove
Our air conditioning work across Brighton and Hove takes in places such as Brighton, Hove and Carlton Hill and the smaller places around them. We cover every place we list for Brighton and Hove, 30 in all.
Brighton and Hove is part of a working area that runs from Greater London to the Sussex coast and out to Oxfordshire and Essex. One phone number covers all of it. Parts of Brighton and Hove are on or near the coast, where salt air is hard on outdoor units. We choose positions and fixings with that in mind.
Brighton: Plenty of people near London Road (Brighton) station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit. Around St Martin's Church, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install.
Why it fails
Everything that uses electricity in a room ends up as heat. A small office or a busy room can warm up fast with equipment and people in it, even when it is not especially hot outside.
What we’re most often called about:
- A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
- Working from home in a room that gets too warm
- Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff
- A system on old refrigerant that is due for replacement
What affects the quote in Brighton and Hove
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:
- Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
- The size of the job
- Whether we need access equipment for high-level work
- Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
One room or a whole building, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the equipment. The price is fixed before work begins, with VAT shown clearly.
Helping us quote
A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:
- The fuse board and where it is in the property
- Your installation or service records
- The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
- Any error code or flashing light on the display

Owner checks or an engineer?
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are normally the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.
Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
For landlords and property managers
For anyone managing more than one building, we can plan visits across the portfolio and price them together. Every address has its own paperwork, so each one has its own history.
We work for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as homeowners and businesses. Let us know who will give us access and who the records should go to, and we will keep everyone informed.
Questions from Brighton and Hove
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
It depends on the room, not only its floor area. Glazing, orientation, the roof and what goes on in the room all affect it and the survey covers each of them.
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
Anyone installing, repairing or servicing the refrigerant side must be qualified, and their company certified. Ask to see proof before you book anyone and we’ll gladly show you ours.
Do I get paperwork after the visit?
Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.
How does the warranty work?
Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Terms differ by brand, and we set them out on your quote.
How quickly will you reply?
On the same working day you contact us. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Are you F-Gas certified?
F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, and we’re Checkatrade members. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us across Brighton and Hove. Let us know who the records should go to.
