How we handle air conditioning in Hangleton
The best installations are planned before a single hole is drilled. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, then agree where the indoor and outdoor units go and how the pipework, cable and condensate drain will run before you get a fixed-price quote. Whether you call it air con, air conditioning or an air-to-air heat pump, it’s the job we do every week across Brighton and Hove.
New circuits are done by our NICEIC approved electricians, so there’s no separate electrician or building control visit to arrange.
In a smaller place like Hangleton, most installs are in houses and cottages, often with gardens, which typically leaves room for an outdoor unit. The wall type and how the electrics reach the unit are often the main things to check.
We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

What an install looks like in Hangleton
The coast is only about 2 miles from Hangleton. That’s worth knowing for an install, as salt air speeds up corrosion on outdoor coils and fixings, so we choose the position and fixings with that in mind. Hangleton’s centre is no more than about a third of a mile from the Hangleton Conservation Area. In the mile around Hangleton’s centre, 2 conservation areas have been designated. On the National Heritage List, around 5 entries fall within 0.5 miles of the middle of Hangleton; Church of St Helen (grade II*) is one. If your property is listed or sits inside a conservation area, expect us to raise planning at the survey and to speak to Brighton and Hove council, usually the planning authority here where it’s needed. Valuation Office Agency council tax records date about 47% of homes in and around Hangleton to the post-war years, 1945 to 1972, and about 65% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. We check the wall construction on homes of that age, as it decides how the pipework goes through. Houses normally have a side or rear wall with room for the outdoor unit, and a multi-split can serve several rooms from one outdoor unit.
Homes near St Helen's Church are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. With historic houses such as Portslade Manor about 0.9 miles south-west, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.
Hangleton is about 1 mile north-west of Brighton and Hove, in Brighton and Hove. Whether you’re in the middle of Hangleton or further out, our engineers cover air conditioning, from a single room to a whole building. Our list for Brighton and Hove has 30 entries and Hangleton is among them.

Let and managed properties
Under the GB F-gas rules, responsibility for leak checks is shared between whoever operates the equipment and the engineers who work on it. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is and we’re happy to deal with whoever it is.
Running several properties is easier with one contractor. Our area covers Greater London and the South East, so a run of properties can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.
What we do, step by step
Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. The visit takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. We plan the visit to Hangleton from the survey or your photos.
- We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.
How to prepare
- Keep pets out of the rooms we are working in
- Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
- Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area

What else we do in Hangleton
Hangleton: your questions answered
Does being near the sea make a difference to air conditioning in Hangleton?
It can, as Hangleton is within about 2 miles of the sea, where salt in the air is hard on coils and fixings. We site outdoor units out of the worst of the sea wind where possible and can suggest models with corrosion protection where the manufacturer offers it.
Do you cover smaller places like Hangleton?
Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. We’re based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
Do I need a new electrical circuit?
Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we will propose a schedule and quote for it. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
Can I have air conditioning in a flat?
It depends on the building and the lease. Balconies, flat roofs and rear walls can all work, subject to consent, and we check the options on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We will work out which band applies to yours.
Which brands do you work with?
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and tell you why.
Looking after it afterwards
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
- Report drips, noises or error codes right away
- Keep the room closed while it runs
The filters are the one part you’ll look after yourself, so we show you how. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, following the manual, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.
Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Blocked filters cut airflow and make the system work harder, so it uses less electricity for the same comfort.
A customer’s words
“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
