Air conditioning installation in Wyck

Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Just phone 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form with pictures of the rooms and the outside of the property, and we’ll reply the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. Whether you call it air con, air conditioning or an air-to-air heat pump, it’s the job we do every week across Hampshire.

In a village like Wyck, many homes are older, and some are listed. We check that first, because permitted development doesn’t apply within the grounds of a listed building, and the outdoor unit position is chosen to suit the building.

Each manufacturer sets its own warranty period. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and its longer extensions apply to its air-to-water units only. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

Do you need air conditioning in Wyck?

Portable units are often where people start, and why they call us. Portables push their warm air out through a hose in the window, so the window cannot close properly and the noisy part of the unit is in the room. A fixed split system puts the compressor outside.

Customers typically contact us after spotting something like this:

  • A business premises that overheats in summer
  • A room that is unbearable on warm days
  • Uncertainty over the right type and size of system

A loft bedroom or a glazed extension is often the room that prompts the first call.

Wyck questions

Is Wyck within the area you cover?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. We are based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

Can you do air conditioning in Wyck?

We do: Wyck falls inside our working area. Just ring us on 07833 053749 or send an email with a few details.

Do I need planning permission?

Not necessarily. Permitted development can cover a heat pump on a house, including an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools since 2025, provided the conditions are met. Permission is more likely to come up for cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing positions in conservation areas and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can I have air conditioning in a flat?

Often, yes, but there are extra steps. Leaseholders normally need consent from the landlord or management company for an outdoor unit and holes through outside walls and the lease will say. Permitted development rules for flats are also tighter than for houses, so we point out anything that may need permission on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

Responsibility is shared between the operator, usually whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.

What size air conditioning unit do I need?

Floor area is only part of it. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count and the survey covers each of them.

How it works

The work area is kept tidy throughout, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. Any holes, fixings or cable routes are agreed with you before we drill. On site, it takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. A few photos help us make the most of a visit to Wyck.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

Preparing for the visit

  • Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need
  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
  • Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it

Advice

What the work involves, system by system

Wall-mounted split systems

A wall-mounted split is the most common choice for a single room. One unit inside, one outside, connected by pipework, a cable and a drain, with the route agreed on the survey.

Ceiling cassettes

Ceiling cassettes fit into the ceiling and push air out in several directions and they’re a common choice for offices, shops and larger rooms.

Air conditioning in Wyck: local notes

Listed buildings are part of the picture here: about 5 within half a mile of the centre, such as Bumbles Farmhouse (grade II). That matters for air conditioning: permitted development doesn’t apply within the grounds of a listed building, in a conservation area the outdoor unit can’t go on a wall or roof facing a road, and a unit used only for cooling isn’t covered at all, so we check with East Hampshire council, typically the planning authority here where necessary. The 2021 Census found about 80% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Houses usually have a side or rear wall with room for the outdoor unit, and a multi-split can serve several rooms from one outdoor unit.

If your home is in one of the older streets near Church of St Mary, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install.

Let and managed properties

Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.

If you look after several properties, we can plan visits across the portfolio and price them together. Each property gets its own records, so each one has its own history.
