Park Gate: your questions answered
Does sea air affect air conditioning in Park Gate?
It can. Park Gate is within about 3 miles of the coast, and salt air speeds up corrosion on outdoor units. We site outdoor units out of the worst of the sea wind where possible and can suggest models with corrosion protection where the manufacturer offers it.
Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in Park Gate?
There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. Historic England lists about 3 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Park Gate. An air-to-air system used for heating as well as cooling can be permitted development on a house if it meets the conditions, but a cooling-only unit isn’t covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road. Where needed, we check with the local planning authority (for Park Gate, usually Fareham council).
Will you need to do electrical work?
Most of the time, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and we’re NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify it.
Will I get records for the system?
Yes. Each visit is written up, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.
How long does it take to fit air conditioning?
Allow a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for problems that can’t wait for a planned visit. Ring 07833 053749 any time and explain the problem.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. Leak checks required by the F-gas rules can be built in for larger systems.
Air conditioning in Park Gate
Single-room systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, two rooms on a multi-split £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation are all included, and commercial VRF systems are priced after a survey. Need an air conditioning installer for Park Gate? We’re based in East Grinstead and cover London and the South East, as an F-Gas certified company with NICEIC approval.
The electrics are part of the job: a dedicated circuit where the unit needs one, certified under NICEIC, so the electrical paperwork comes with the installation.
In a village like Park Gate, many homes are older, and some are listed. That matters, because a listed home needs consent and permitted development rules don’t apply to it.
Think of the paperwork as the system’s health record: what was fitted or found, what was done and when. If anything goes wrong later, it helps the next engineer and the manufacturer and it’s worth keeping safe.

How the visit works
The work area is kept tidy throughout, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. If we need to drill through a wall, we agree the spot with you first. On site, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. If a lane or gateway near Park Gate is tight for a van, let us know and we’ll plan for it.
- You send photos, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
- We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
- We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.
Preparing for the visit
- Name a contact who can meet us at the agreed time
- Clear the space around the indoor unit, or where it will go
- Let us know where the consumer unit is

Keeping the system healthy
So the system stays in good health:
- Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
- Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
- File the paperwork with the manual
The handover includes the records you need: F-Gas records, commissioning details and the manufacturer’s warranty terms. Keep them with the manual, because the manufacturer or a future engineer may ask to see them.
Keep the outdoor unit clear. Leaves, plants, bins and stored items around it restrict the airflow, which makes the whole system less efficient.
Rented and managed buildings
The F-gas rules share responsibility for leak checking between the equipment’s operator and the service technicians. Where a building is let or managed, the lease or contract should make clear who looks after the system and we are happy to deal with whoever it is.
From a single flat to a whole estate, the approach is the same: diagnosis, a fixed price, access agreed with the people on site and paperwork at the end.
Homes in Park Gate and air conditioning
Park Gate is within about 3 miles of the coast. Some manufacturers offer anti-corrosion coated coils for coastal sites, and we’ll tell you if the model you choose has that option. The last census (2021) found about 71% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. With homes like that, finding a sensible outdoor unit position is rarely hard, and a multi-split lets two or more rooms run off it.
Plenty of people near Swanwick station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit. Older streets near St Margaret Mary may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.

Leave it or put it right?
Size matters more than brand. Too small, and it runs flat out without catching up; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy. Getting the sizing right at the survey stage avoids both problems. A system that’s left with a fault, or without a service, normally costs more to run.
The cost depends on the system and the number of rooms or units, how easy the units are to reach and what the work involves. We give you a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.
