Air conditioning for Minley

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you cannot see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.

How we handle air conditioning in Minley

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, with VRF for larger buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see, and we explain the options on the survey. Whether you call it air con, air conditioning or an air-to-air heat pump, it’s the job we do every week across Hampshire.

New circuits are done by our NICEIC approved electricians, so there’s no separate electrician or building control visit to arrange.

In a village like Minley, many homes are older, and some are listed. That matters, because a listed home needs consent and permitted development rules do not apply to it, and the outdoor unit position is chosen to suit the building.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: commissioning details and F-Gas records for a new system, a note of the fault and the fix for a repair, or a service record. File it with the manual, because it helps with any later warranty question.

Your questions about air conditioning in Minley

Do you cover Minley for air conditioning?

Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and Minley is part of that. Just call 07833 053749 or drop us a line with a few details.

Is Minley within the area you cover?

Yes. Minley is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

Is air conditioning possible in a flat?

Often, yes, but there are extra steps. You’ll usually need the landlord’s or management company’s consent for the outdoor unit and the pipe route, so check the lease. Planning rules for flats are tighter too, so we point out anything that may need permission on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

How do you keep the place clean during the work?

Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets before any work starts, and the area is kept tidy throughout. At the end, we clear up and show you what we have done.

Which brands do you work with?

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and explain why.

Do I need planning permission?

Not always. Permitted development can cover a heat pump on a house, including an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools since 2025, provided the conditions are met. Permission is more likely to come up for cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing positions in conservation areas and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.

Let and managed properties

If you look after several properties, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Every address has its own paperwork, so the files stay tidy.

Running several properties is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so work at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.

What happens on the day

Each visit follows the same order: agree the plan on site, put the dust sheets down, carry out the job, check the system and talk you through it. On site, the work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. Photos of the existing unit help with repairs and servicing in Minley.

  1. First comes a site survey, or pictures and measurements for a straightforward job.
  2. You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
  3. The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
  4. Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
  5. Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Name a contact who can meet us at the agreed time
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
  • Keep pets and children away from the work area

How to get a quote

VAT is set out clearly on every quote, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. VAT can differ between homes and businesses and between kinds of work, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. For a fixed-price quote, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.

Advice

After we’ve gone

After the visit, a few habits help:

  • Let filters dry fully before you put them back
  • Have the system serviced once a year
  • Report drips, noises or error codes right away

The work area is left tidy: dust sheets lifted, offcuts and packaging cleared, and the holes for the pipework sealed. Pipework outside is covered in trunking or insulated and neatly fixed, so the job looks as tidy as it works.

Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Anything piled against it, from leaves to garden furniture, reduces the airflow, which makes the whole system less efficient.

Homes in Minley and air conditioning

About 71% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the last census (2021). Detached and semi-detached houses normally have space for the outdoor unit, and several rooms can share one on a multi-split. The middle of Minley is part of a conservation area. On the National Heritage List, around 10 entries fall within 0.5 miles of the middle of Minley; Minley Manor (grade II*) is one. That matters for air conditioning: permitted development does not apply within the grounds of a listed building, in a conservation area the outdoor unit cannot go on a wall or roof facing a road, and a unit used only for cooling isn’t covered at all, so we check with the local planning authority (usually Hart council) where needed.

Most people start with the room that gets hottest, then add more rooms on a multi-split if needed. Older streets near Church of St Andrew may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
