About our air conditioning in Holbury
Air conditioning is not only for summer: most modern splits heat too. The Energy Saving Trust makes the same point: an air-to-air heat pump is what many people simply call air conditioning, so a well-chosen unit can be useful in winter as well as summer. If you want air conditioning in Holbury, one call covers the survey, the fixed-price quote, the installation and the F-Gas paperwork.
A cottage and a newer house near Holbury are very different jobs. Thick walls, low ceilings and beams need care with pipe routes, and if the home is listed, consent comes before any work.
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company and NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

What air conditioning won’t do
Some problems need a different service or another trade:
- Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
- Central heating repairs
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)

Air conditioning around Holbury
At about 2 miles from the coast, Holbury is close enough for sea air to matter. Near the sea, outdoor unit position matters more: sheltered from salt-laden wind where possible, on fixings that will not rust. About 50% of homes in the Holbury area date from 1945 to 1972, according to the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures, and the 2021 Census found about 68% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Homes of that age typically have cavity or solid brick walls, and we check which before planning the pipe route. With homes like that, finding a sensible outdoor unit position is rarely hard, and a multi-split lets two or more rooms run off it.
Beaulieu Palace House (roughly 2.9 miles west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. Most people start with the room that gets hottest, then add more rooms on a multi-split if needed.

What happens if it’s left?
The best time to plan air conditioning is before the hot weather, not during it. When people buy in a hurry, the unit is often the wrong size or badly placed, and that is hard to put right later. Booking the survey early gives you time to weigh up the options. For a place like Holbury, booking ahead lets us plan the visit properly.
What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why we look at the job first, from photos or on a survey, and the price is agreed before any work starts.

What the work involves, system by system
Ceiling cassettes
Cassettes are good at even airflow across a large floor area, and the slim grille sits neatly in the ceiling.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Commercial rooms often need more than one unit and controls that suit how the space is used. Sizing takes account of occupants, equipment and windows and we plan the installation around your opening hours where we can.
Holbury questions
Is Holbury in your area for air conditioning?
Yes. Holbury is one of the places we cover. Just ring us on 07833 053749 or send an email with a few details.
Do you cover smaller places like Holbury?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
It depends on the room, not only its floor area. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count and the survey covers each of them.
Which manufacturers do you install and repair?
The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and explain why.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. That isn’t optional: it’s required by law, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
Will you need to do electrical work?
Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and we are NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify it.
How it works
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you and run through the plan before anything else. Dust sheets go down over floors and anything close to the work, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. On site, it takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. Around Holbury, access is usually simple, though gates and garden access are worth mentioning.
- We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
- Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.
How to prepare
- Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records
- Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
- Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
Get a fixed-price quote
Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Tell us the address and what you need, and many jobs can be priced from that.
