Air conditioning servicing in Shootash

Many manufacturers attach conditions to their warranties, and some of those may include regular servicing. Each brand sets its own terms and we’re happy to go through them with you. You get a record of each service to keep with the warranty paperwork. If the problem is F-gas leak checks falling due and smells coming from the indoor unit, we can sort it out.

Several units at a home near Shootash can be serviced in one visit, which keeps it simple.

Warranty periods vary by brand and by product. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and its longer extensions apply to its air-to-water units only. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

How the visit works

The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: diagnose, treat and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then we do the work, and finally everything is tested, recorded and explained. The middle part takes longest, which takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. Pictures of the space and where the outdoor unit could go let us plan the work in Shootash.

  1. First, we agree a time and confirm the cost of the service.
  2. We switch the system on and check it in operation.
  3. Then the cleaning: filters, coils, fan and the drain line.
  4. Electrical and refrigerant checks follow, including a leak check if the rules require one.
  5. It’s run once more to confirm all is well, and the record is left with you.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records
  • Let us know where the consumer unit is
  • Tell us about parking and loading

Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Advice

Owner checks or an engineer?

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrics need care too. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

When it’s something else

We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • Poor original installation, such as drains without a proper fall
  • Rooms that gain heat faster than any unit could cope with
  • Lost refrigerant, where the fix is a leak repair

Not sure which it is? You can ring 07833 053749 or send an email and we’ll tell you honestly.

Where we work

  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • VRF systems
  • Multi-split systems
  • Ducted systems

Why deal with it now?

Faults found on a service can often be put right before they cause a breakdown. Left alone, the same fault tends to show itself when you most need the system. A dirty or faulty system works harder and costs more to run.

The cost depends on the system and the number of rooms or units, the access and what the work involves. We give you a fixed price before we start, so there are no surprises.

Shootash questions

How often should air conditioning in Shootash be serviced?

For most homes, once a year. Some manufacturers’ warranty terms ask for regular servicing, so it’s worth keeping the records.

Is Shootash in your area for air conditioning servicing?

Yes. Shootash is one of the places we cover. Just call us on 07833 053749 or drop us a line with a few details.

Is an F-gas leak check a legal requirement for my system?

It depends on the system’s tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e). From 5 to under 50 tCO2e, leak checks are required at least every 12 months, and from 50 to under 500 tCO2e every 6 months. Hermetically sealed systems holding less than 10 tCO2e don’t need them.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We’ll work out which band applies to yours.

Does the manufacturer’s warranty require regular servicing?

Each manufacturer sets its own terms. Some may have servicing conditions attached so it’s worth reading yours. We can explain the terms, and each visit is recorded.

Can I have a maintenance contract for my air conditioning?

We do, for one unit at home or many across a site. We fix the schedule, the scope and the cost with your quote, so servicing and any required leak checks stay on schedule.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us in Shootash and across Hampshire. Let us know who the records should go to.

Air conditioning servicing in Shootash: the local picture

Historic England lists about 3 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Shootash, including The Round House (grade II). That only matters for replacements, where a new outdoor unit on a protected building can need consent. Valuation Office Agency council tax records show about 45% of homes in and around Shootash were built in 2000 or later, and the last census (2021) found about 73% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. If the outdoor unit is high up or behind a locked gate, mention it when you book.

A service once a year suits most home systems, and some business systems need more. A musty smell from the indoor unit is often a sign it needs a service.
