How we handle air conditioning servicing in Cheapside

A manufacturer’s warranty can come with conditions, and regular servicing may be one of them. Each brand sets its own terms, and we can explain what yours says. You get a record of each service to keep with the warranty paperwork. We’re often asked to deal with iced-up coils or pipework and noisy fans or rattling from the outdoor unit, across wall-mounted split systems, VRF systems and multi-split systems.

Most systems around Cheapside need servicing once a year, best done before summer.

We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

The process

Everything the job needs comes with us, from tools and test equipment to ladders and dust sheets. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. On site, the work takes an hour or two for most homes, and longer where there are several indoor units or a ducted system. If a lane or gateway near Cheapside is tight for a van, let us know and we’ll plan for it.

  1. You tell us the brand, the number of indoor units and any symptoms.
  2. Inside, the filters, coil and drain tray of each indoor unit are cleaned.
  3. Outside, the coil is cleaned, the fan checked and the area cleared.
  4. Electrical connections, controls and refrigerant performance are tested.
  5. Anything we find is explained, with a fixed price if it needs a repair.

Before we arrive

  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
  • Clear access to the fuse board
  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand

How to get a quote

Every quote shows the VAT clearly, with the rate that applies to your job. VAT can differ between homes and businesses and between kinds of work, so we confirm it on the quote. For a fixed-price quote, phone 07833 053749 or email us.

Keeping systems in Cheapside running

Cheapside’s centre falls inside a designated conservation area. About 9 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Cheapside, Silwood Park Farmhouse (grade II) among them. We keep it in mind in case a new outdoor unit is ever needed, as protected buildings can need consent for that. Valuation Office Agency council tax records show about 30% of homes in and around Cheapside were built in 2000 or later, and the 2021 Census found about 66% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Wall bracket, ground pad or flat roof: knowing where the outdoor unit is saves time on the day.

Site managers at schools like Cheapside CofE Primary School can have the site’s units serviced during a holiday. Booking before the first hot spell means the system is ready when you need it.

Questions from Cheapside

How often do you service systems in Cheapside?

Once a year suits most home systems. Business systems may also need F-gas leak checks, at least every 12 months from 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent.

Is Cheapside within the area you cover?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. Every job is looked at first, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. Then you get a fixed-price quote.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.

How soon will you get back to me?

You will hear from us the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.

Which accreditations do you hold?

We are an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We are members of Checkatrade too.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

System by system

Fans and electrics

Electrical connections are checked for tightness and signs of overheating. Loose connections can cause faults that come and go and is easily put right.

Maintenance contracts

For businesses, a contract keeps servicing and any required leak checks on schedule and each visit is recorded.

After we have gone

Looking after it is simple, and it helps at the next service:

  • Shut doors to the room so the system isn’t cooling the whole house
  • Check what your manufacturer’s warranty asks of you
  • Keep to an annual service, or more often if needed

If we find a fault, we explain it and give you a price to put it right. We do not carry out extra work until you’ve agreed it, so you stay in control of the cost.

Keep the area around the outdoor unit clear. Plants, bins and stored items piled around it get in the way of the air it needs and should be moved away.

Leave it or put it right?

A service costs a set price and fits around your diary. A fault picks its own moment, so a planned visit is the easier option. An early booking makes the visit to Cheapside easier to arrange.

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is looked at first, and why the quote is fixed before work begins.

Why us?

  • We reply to enquiries the same working day
  • Clear warranty information from the manufacturer
  • MCS certification for heat pump work
  • One number for homes and businesses across London and the South East
