Air conditioning in TN6

We cover every part of the TN6 postcode district, which takes in Crowborough, Jarvis Brook and Rotherfield. You get a fixed-price quote before any work starts.

How air conditioning works in TN6

A new system normally needs a dedicated circuit from the fuse board. Under Part P, a new circuit is notifiable unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we can install and certify it as part of the job. We are often asked to deal with old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient and portable units that are noisy and barely cope, on multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes.

Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. On the day, both are in the same hands. On site, it takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

Getting a price

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Near you in Crowborough

We fit and service air conditioning in homes and premises around St Marys Catholic Primary School, Beacon Academy and The Crowborough Cross pub, among other places. The nearest railway station is Crowborough station, roughly 1 mile south-east. Well-known places in the area include Crowborough War Memorial Hospital (0.5 miles west). For a walk, there’s Crowborough Country Park.

Air conditioning around TN6

In TN6, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: cooling-only units are not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.

We are based in East Grinstead and work across London and the South East, TN6 included. Every job starts with a site survey or photos, then a fixed-price quote.

Crowborough: Groombridge Place (roughly 4.6 miles north) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. Living close to The Parish Church of All Saints? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.

What we’re called out for in TN6

Rooms overheat mostly because of heat they gain during the day. Sunshine through glazing, especially on south and west-facing rooms, adds a lot of heat, and the heat lingers long after the sun has moved round.

The things we’re asked about most are:

  • Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
  • An old system that needs replacing
  • A study or office that overheats during the day
  • An office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers

How we price air conditioning

Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We check:

  • Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
  • How far the pipework has to run, and where
  • The brand, model and parts involved
  • Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system

Typical ranges are on our prices page, but each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed-price quote, call us on 07833 053749, and we will talk you through it.

Helping us quote

To speed up the quote, please include:

  • A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
  • The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
  • Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
  • The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area

If you need air conditioning in TN6, phone us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk. Let us know the type of property and what you need, and send a few photos if you can. We reply the same working day.

Before you call an engineer

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

Keep a note of anything odd: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo of the display helps even more.

What the work involves, system by system

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

For bigger buildings, VRF systems link many indoor units to shared outdoor plant. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey, with the design explained in the quote.

Ceiling cassettes

A cassette needs a void above the ceiling for the unit, pipework and drain, with a condensate pump where the drain can’t fall naturally. The survey confirms the void and the drain route.

TN6 questions

What accreditations do you have?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we’re an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.

How much is air conditioning for one room?

From £1,200 + VAT for a single-room split, with a typical range of £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. The price includes supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation, and we fix it after a survey or from your pictures.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes, always. A new system comes with commissioning details, F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.

How does the warranty work?

Warranty comes from the manufacturer and depends on the brand and product. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years and we explain the terms for your brand on the quote.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Every visit is recorded, with F-Gas records where refrigerant work is involved.

Will I need planning permission?

That depends on what’s being fitted and where. Heat pumps on houses in England can be permitted development when they meet set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, but a cooling-only unit is not covered, so check with the council. Flats, listed buildings and conservation areas have tighter rules. This is general information, not legal advice.

Which type of air conditioning is best?

The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.
