About air conditioning in TN34
Across TN34, every installation follows the same steps: a site survey, or pictures for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. The work covers ceiling cassettes, ducted systems and air-to-air heat pumps, and people most often call us about fans and portables that don’t keep up and a study or office that overheats during the day.
Protection comes first: dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work and nothing is moved without asking you. Then the electrics are made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access, and we tidy up before we leave.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
- The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
- Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.
How we quote
One room or a whole building, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You will have a fixed price before we start, and the quote sets out the VAT.
Why book with us
- A 24/7 emergency line
- A reply the same working day
- We work on all the leading brands
- Clear warranty information from the manufacturer
Get a fixed-price quote
Getting a quote is straightforward. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day. If we need to see the property first, we book a survey at a time that works for you.
Around Hastings
Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to St Paul's Church of England Academy, The Duke pub and William Parker Sports College, among other places. Nearby too are Alexandra Park (under half a mile south-east), University School (0.9 miles south-east) and St Luke's Church (within half a mile west). The closest station to Hastings is St Leonards Warrior Square station, roughly 0.9 miles south of the centre. A little further out are Conquest Hospital (1.2 miles north) and Priory Meadow Shopping Centre (1.1 miles south-east). For a walk, there’s Senlac Hill and Church Wood and Robsack Wood.
Air conditioning across TN34
Across TN34, from Hastings, St Leonards and Hastings Old Town to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. We survey every property before we quote.
From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps. Near the coast in TN34, outdoor units last longer with shelter from sea wind and a yearly service.
Hastings: If you commute from St Leonards Warrior Square station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed. If your home is in one of the older streets near St Luke's Church, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install.
Why it fails
Everything that uses electricity in a room ends up as heat. A home office with a couple of screens, or a meeting room with a few people in it, warms up quickly, even on a mild day.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient
- Fans and portables that do not keep up
- Bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer
- A study or office that overheats during the day
Aftercare tips
To keep the system working properly:
- Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
- Keep the handover documents somewhere safe
- Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
Questions after the installation go to the same number. Tell us what the system is doing, and any code on the display and we will help you sort it out.
Book an annual service. The engineer cleans the coils and drain, checks the electrics and the refrigerant circuit and catches small problems early, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.
Owner checks or an engineer?
For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Leave the units and pipework where they are. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.
System by system
Ceiling cassettes
A cassette needs a void above the ceiling for the unit, pipework and drain, and many use a built-in condensate pump to lift the water away. We check the ceiling void on the survey.
Electrical supply
A dedicated circuit is normally needed. As NICEIC approved contractors, we install it and issue the certificate and that covers the Part P side.
FAQs for TN34
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, with visits at the interval your system and the manufacturer need. Each visit is written up and F-Gas records kept where they apply.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
It depends on the rooms and the building. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. We recommend one on the survey and explain why.
Which brands do you work with?
We work with the leading brands, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we’ll take it from there.
Will I need planning permission?
That depends on what’s being fitted and where. Heat pumps on houses in England can be permitted development when they meet set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, while a unit that only cools isn’t covered and needs checking with the council. Flats, listed buildings and conservation areas have tighter rules. This is general information, not legal advice.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy, so we explain why we’ve chosen a particular output.
Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?
It depends on the building and the lease. Balconies, flat roofs and rear walls can all work, subject to consent, and we check the options on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
How long does air conditioning installation take?
Allow a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. We confirm the time when we quote so there are no surprises.
