Our air conditioning service in TN31

We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see and we talk you through it on the survey. The work covers ducted systems, ceiling cassettes and VRF systems, and the jobs we see most are a system on old refrigerant that’s due for replacement and uncertainty over the right type and size of system.

The first job on site is protection: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby, and we ask before moving anything. Then the electrics are made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems, and we tidy up before we leave.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
  3. Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where needed.
  4. Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

What affects the price in TN31

The cost depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and what the work involves. We give you a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.

Air conditioning across TN31: local notes

In TN31, we install in places such as Rye, Northiam and Camber and well beyond. We cover every place we list for TN31, 21 in all.

We’re based in East Grinstead and work across London and the South East, TN31 included. Every job starts with a site survey or photos, then a fixed-price quote. In the coastal parts of TN31, outdoor units benefit from a sheltered position and regular servicing, and some manufacturers offer corrosion-protected coils.

Rye: Older streets near Church of St Mary may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes. Lamb House (roughly 0.1 miles south-east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.

What the work involves, system by system

Electrical supply

A dedicated circuit is normally needed. We’re NICEIC approved, so we fit and certify the circuit ourselves, which takes care of the Part P notification.

Pipework and condensate drains

We pressure test and evacuate the pipework before the system is charged, so the system starts life clean, dry and leak-tight. It’s recorded in the commissioning details.

What affects the quote in TN31

The survey or diagnosis tells us what the work involves. We look at:

  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • Whether the existing supply is suitable
  • What we find on the survey or diagnosis
  • The pipe route between the units

Every job is different, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all play a part.

Helping us quote

You don’t need the technical terms. Just send:

  • Any previous service or F-Gas records
  • The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
  • Wide pictures of the room or the existing unit
  • The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go

Getting a quote is straightforward. Call or email with a few details and we will come back to you the same working day. If we need to see the property first, we book a survey at a time that works for you.

Honest limits

Air conditioning can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:

  • Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
  • Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
  • A room that can’t take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)

Signs you need air conditioning

Portable units are often where people start, and why they call us. Portables push their warm air out through a hose in the window, so the window can’t close properly and the noisy part of the unit is in the room. A fixed split system puts the compressor outside.

If any of these sounds familiar, it’s worth a diagnosis:

  • Working from home in a room that gets too warm
  • Fans and portables that do not keep up
  • A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
  • Bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer

Your questions about air conditioning in TN31

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

For some brands, yes. Send us the make and model and we will tell you what the manufacturer expects and stick to the interval they set.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for problems that can’t wait for a planned visit. Call 07833 053749 and tell us what’s happened.

Is planning permission needed for the outdoor unit?

Not necessarily. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Permission is more likely to come up for cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing positions in conservation areas, and we tell you at the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

Warranty comes from the manufacturer and depends on the brand and product. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and we explain the terms for whichever brand you choose.

Can air conditioning heat my home as well?

Yes, most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. Some cooling-only models exist, so we confirm it for the model on your quote.

Can I do any of the installation myself?

Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That is the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.

How do you size the system?

It depends on the room, not only its floor area. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count and the survey covers each of them.
