Our air conditioning service in SG2
Single-room systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, while a two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Those ranges include supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation, and commercial VRF systems are priced after a survey. The work covers multi-split systems, ducted systems and wall-mounted split systems, and common reasons people get in touch are an ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life and rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in.
If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before we start so it does not catch you out. For businesses, we can normally work room by room or zone by zone. On site, it takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
- Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
- Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
- Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
- It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.
Pricing in SG2

Around Chells
Around Chells, our work takes us to homes and businesses near St Hugh & St John, The Nobel School and Lodge Farm Primary School and the streets around them. The nearest railway station is Stevenage station, roughly 1.8 miles south-west. A little further out are Lister Hospital (2.1 miles north-west) and Benington Castle (2.4 miles south-east). The countryside around Chells includes Pryor's Wood.
Air conditioning around SG2
From Stevenage, Chells and Shephall outwards, SG2 has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.
Our area stretches from Greater London through Surrey, Kent and Sussex to Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and SG2 sits within it. One phone number covers all of it.
Chells: Aston Bury, about 2.4 miles south, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it. Homes near St Hugh & St John are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.
Pricing air conditioning in SG2
A fixed price needs a few facts first. We look at:
- The condition of any existing system
- Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
- How far the pipework has to run, and where
- The size of the job
The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before we start.
Helping us quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- The rating plate or label on any existing unit
- Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
- Any previous service or F-Gas records
- The address and the type of property
Want a quote for air conditioning? Please call us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form and tell us about the job. We’ll talk you through the options and give you a fixed-price quote before anything is booked.
What happens if it’s left?
Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg can’t use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088.
Comparing quotes
- Whose warranty applies, and on what terms
- Whether the electrical work is done by a registered contractor, such as NICEIC approved
- How VAT is shown, and which rate applies
- Whether anyone has checked the property or the system first
Common problems we fix in SG2
Bedrooms that are too warm at night are a frequent reason for a call. An open window doesn’t always cool a bedroom that has warmed up all day, especially on a still night.
It’s time to call us if you’re dealing with:
- Bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer
- Rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night
- A system on old refrigerant that is due for replacement
- Not knowing which system, size or brand to choose
What the work involves, system by system
Outdoor unit positions
Outdoor units are fitted on wall brackets, at ground level or on a flat roof, depending on the property and the pipe route. It needs airflow around it and room for servicing.
Wall-mounted split systems
Single-room split systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. Where you sit in that range depends on the pipe run, access and electrics.
Your questions about air conditioning in SG2
Is planning permission needed for the outdoor unit?
Not necessarily. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing spots in conservation areas are where it usually comes up and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.
Where will you put the outdoor unit?
The position is agreed on the survey, not on the day. It must have clear airflow and space for servicing, and a position facing a road can bring extra planning considerations. We will tell you what to check before we fit it.
When will I hear back?
On the same working day you contact us. Then we agree a date that works for you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we’ll suggest a schedule with a fixed price. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while larger systems and faults that need testing are seen on site.
Will skipping a service affect the warranty?
It can, for some brands. Read the manufacturer’s terms, or send us the make and model and we’ll explain them, and book the service at the interval they recommend.
Which manufacturers do you install and repair?
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.
