Our air conditioning service in PO19

Think of it as diagnose, treat and sign off: the survey diagnoses what the rooms need, the installation is the treatment and commissioning is the sign-off. The sign-off includes testing every mode, showing you the controls and handing over the F-Gas records. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, multi-split systems and ducted systems, and common reasons people get in touch are a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer and not knowing which system, size or brand to choose.

The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: look, put right and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then the work itself, and finally we test, record and explain. Most of the time goes on the middle part, which takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.

  1. You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
  2. The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
  3. We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
  4. Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
  5. It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.

Getting a price

For air conditioning in PO19, ring 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form. Tell us what kind of property it is and what you’d like done, plus some photos if they’re to hand. Enquiries get a reply the same working day.

Around Chichester

We fit and service air conditioning in homes and premises around Lancastrian Infant School, Church of St Paul and Central C of E Junior School, among other places. Nearby too are Chichester High School For Girls (0.7 miles south) and George and Dragon Inn (within half a mile south-east). For rail, the closest station is Chichester station, roughly 0.6 miles south of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Novium Museum (less than half a mile south) and Chichester Castle (under half a mile east). Green spaces nearby include Stoke Down and Kingley Vale National Nature Reserve.

Air conditioning around PO19

In PO19, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.

Across London and the South East, we reply to enquiries the same working day, with a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns. Parts of PO19 are on or near the coast, where salt air is hard on outdoor units. We choose positions and fixings with that in mind.

Chichester: Goodwood House (roughly 2.7 miles north-east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. If you commute from Chichester station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed.

After we have gone

Think of this as the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • File the paperwork with the manual
  • Avoid setting it far colder than you need
  • Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
  • Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code

The filters are the one part you’ll look after yourself, so we show you how. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, following the manual, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter.

Have the system serviced once a year. The engineer cleans the coils and drain, checks the electrics and the refrigerant circuit and catches small problems early, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.

How we price air conditioning

You’ll get a fixed price before any work starts. It takes into account:

  • How far the pipework has to run, and where
  • How easy the units are to reach
  • The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
  • What kind of system it is

Whatever the property, the quote works the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Call for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.

What we need to know

When you call or email, it’s useful to have:

  • Your consumer unit or fuse board
  • The remote or wall controller showing any error
  • Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
  • Where the property is and what kind of building it is

Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.

What owners can safely do

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

Owner care supports servicing; it doesn’t replace it. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you can’t see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.

Honest limits

We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what air conditioning will not do:

  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
  • A room that can’t take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
  • Central heating repairs

PO19: your questions answered

Does air conditioning work as heating?

Most of the time, yes: modern splits are normally heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. We confirm the heating function of the model we quote.

Does servicing affect my warranty?

Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some warranty terms require the system to be serviced regularly by a qualified engineer, so it’s worth checking. Either way, keep a record of every service.

How does the warranty work?

It’s the manufacturer’s, and the terms are theirs. Some terms depend on regular servicing by a qualified engineer so it’s worth keeping the service records.

What accreditations do you have?

F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We’ll work out which band applies to yours.

Does air conditioning need its own electrical supply?

In most cases, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes, every time. We diagnose before we treat: the survey shows what’s needed, where things go and what access we need and the fixed price is built on it.
