How air conditioning works in GU29
A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, two rooms on a multi-split £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Those ranges include supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation, with commercial and VRF systems priced after a survey. Common call-outs are for too many options and no clear advice and portable units that are noisy and barely cope, on multi-split systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ducted systems.
If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before work begins so it does not catch you out. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. The work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
- Each room is sized and you get a fixed-price quote setting out the equipment and the unit positions.
- On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.
How we quote
Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Call for a fixed-price quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What’s near Midhurst
Typical jobs here are in properties near The Egmont Public House, St Margaret's Convent and Midhurst CofE Primary School and the streets around them. Nearby too are Roman Catholic Church of Divine Motherhood (under half a mile east) and Midhurst Rother College (0.6 miles north-east). A little further out are Midhurst Community Hospital (0.8 miles north-east) and Lodsworth Castle (3.2 miles east). Not far away are Levin Down and Iping and Stedham Commons.
Air conditioning across GU29: local notes
Planning rules are the same across England, GU29 included: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.
From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Midhurst: Cowdray House, about 0.6 miles north-east, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it. Living close to Roman Catholic Church of Divine Motherhood? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.
What the work involves, system by system
Multi-split systems
Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. The route from the outdoor unit to each room is the main variable.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey, with the design explained in the quote.
Why act early?
New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg cannot use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. R410A, used in many older systems, has a GWP of 2088.
Comparing quotes
- Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it
- Whether they looked at the job before pricing it
- Whether the company is F-Gas certified, and whether you can check it
- Whose warranty applies, and on what terms
When something else is needed
Air conditioning cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not put right:
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
- Central heating repairs
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
Why it fails
In shops, offices and restaurants, the heat comes from customers, staff, equipment and lighting as well as the sun. Keeping staff and customers comfortable is typically what prompts the call, along with keeping equipment rooms at a steady temperature.
What we’re most often called about:
- Bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer
- Expensive direct electric heating
- An old system that needs replacing
- Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
Questions from GU29
Can landlords and managing agents book you?
Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting and managing agents, and businesses of every size across London and the South East. Let us know who the records should go to.
Which brands do you work with?
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and explain why.
Will you make a mess?
Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Holes and fixings are agreed with you, and we clean up afterwards before we leave.
Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?
That depends on the brand. If servicing is in the terms, missing one could affect a claim, so we explain the terms on your quote.
Which type of system should I choose?
It depends on the rooms and the building. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. We recommend one on the survey and explain why.
How soon will you get back to me?
The same working day. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?
It can go on a wall bracket, at ground level or on a flat roof, wherever the pipe route, airflow and servicing access work best. We also think about noise near bedrooms and neighbours, and the position can affect planning.
