Air source heat pumps for Well

Air source heat pumps in Well

We install air source heat pumps in Well and across Hampshire, and we’re MCS certified. Air-to-water systems feed your radiators or underfloor heating and hot water cylinder, while air-to-air systems heat rooms directly through indoor units and can cool them too. We help you work out which suits your home. The work covers air-to-air heat pumps, homes heated by oil, LPG or gas and air-to-water heat pumps, and common reasons people get in touch are replacing a combi boiler with a heat pump and comparing heat pump types.

If your home in or near Well is heated by oil, LPG or electric heaters with no mains gas, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme adds an extra £1,500 until March 2027 for an air source or ground source heat pump.

We are an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

When something else is needed

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work cannot put right:

  • Getting planning permission or listed building consent on your behalf
  • A grant for a home that does not meet the scheme rules
  • Tax rulings, which only HMRC can give

Not sure which it is? You can ring 07833 053749 and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Hot water cylinders
  • Homes heated by oil, LPG or gas
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Underfloor heating
  • Radiator systems
  • Air-to-water heat pumps

What affects the cost of air source heat pumps

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We consider:

  • The brand, model and parts involved
  • What we find on the survey or diagnosis
  • The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is looked at first, and why the quote is fixed before we start.

Before you get in touch

A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
  • Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
  • A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on

To help us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, a few photos, the make and model of any existing system and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, phone us on 07833 053749 or send an email.

How the visit works

The visit goes in the diary at a time that works for you, and we let you know if plans need to move. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your pictures or the details you gave us. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. From there, the work takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. For a village like Well, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.

  1. Step one is understanding the house, how it’s heated today and what you’d like to change.
  2. We survey the home room by room for heat loss, and check the emitters, hot water and outdoor unit position.
  3. A fixed-price quote follows, setting out the system, any grant that applies and the VAT.
  4. Installation covers the outdoor unit, the indoor connections and the controls.
  5. The system is commissioned and registered under MCS, and we show you how to use it.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
  • Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
  • Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records

Get a fixed-price quote

Some jobs can be priced from photos, while others need a survey. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Air source heat pumps in Well: the local picture

Census 2021 figures found about 80% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Houses normally have space for an outdoor unit and a hot water cylinder. The centre of Well lies within a conservation area. Historic England lists about 4 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Well, including Boseley House (grade II). For a heat pump, permitted development doesn’t apply within the grounds of a listed building, and in a conservation area the outdoor unit can’t go on a wall or roof facing a road, so we check with the planning team at Hart council, which usually handles Well where necessary.

With Farnham Castle about 4.8 miles east, it’s worth asking whether your own home is listed before planning a heat pump.

Well is about 5 miles west of Farnham, in Hampshire. Across the RG29 area, our engineers can take on air source heat pumps. In Hampshire alone we list 683 places and Well is among them. The nearest of our city pages is Guildford, around 15 miles from Well.

The closest recent job we can point to from Well was on Castle Street, Farnham (GU9), about 5 miles east: installing a Fujitsu multi-split system serving three offices and a client meeting room.

Our engineers cover all of the RG29 postcode area for air source heat pumps and the roads nearby. We also cover the places around Well: Long Sutton (1 mile west), South Warnborough (2 miles west), Odiham (3 miles north), Broad Oak (3 miles north) and North Warnborough (4 miles north-west). Within a short drive, we also cover Basingstoke (9 miles north-west), Farnborough (8 miles north-east), Fleet (5 miles north-east) and Aldershot (7 miles east).

Near you in Well

The nearest railway station is Bentley (Hampshire) station, about 2.9 miles south-east. Other landmarks nearby include Fleet Community Hospital (5.8 miles north-east) and Barley Pound (2.2 miles east). Not far away are Holybourne Hill and Dogmersfield Lake.

Well: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Well?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in Well?

Yes, if the home and the heat pump meet the scheme’s rules: Well is in England, where it applies. For an air-to-water heat pump the amount is £7,500; an air-to-air system can get £2,500 if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating outright, meets the home’s full heating demand and isn’t an add-on to a boiler. We hold MCS certification, so the application is ours to make for you.

Which type of heat pump is right for my home?

The right choice depends on the property and what you need. The grant is £7,500 for eligible air-to-water systems and £2,500 for air-to-air in limited cases, and we set out the options after the survey.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, we work the same way: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we’ll suggest a schedule with a fixed price. Leak checks required by the F-gas rules can be built in for larger systems.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some warranty terms require the system to be serviced regularly by a qualified engineer, so it’s worth checking. Keep every service record either way.

Is a heat pump permitted development?

It depends on the property and where the unit goes. Flats have different limits, conservation areas have extra conditions, and an Article 4 direction can remove the rights, so we check during the survey.

Do you need air source heat pumps in Well?

When a home is being extended or renovated, it’s a good moment to look at heat pumps. Pipework, radiators and space for a cylinder are easier to plan while work is going on.

Any of these is worth a proper look:

  • Checking whether planning permission is needed
  • Questions about where the outdoor unit can go
  • A boiler that is getting old

If your home is one of the older properties near Lord Wandsworth College Chapel, the survey checks whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before the outdoor unit position is chosen.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether you get F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved
  • If the figure could change on the day
  • If the quote is based on a survey, pictures or a diagnosis
