Air source heat pumps in Sheet

Air source heat pumps for homes and businesses in Sheet

Air-to-water heat pumps heat your hot water through a cylinder. If you have a combi boiler and no cylinder, the survey looks at where one could go. With air-to-air, hot water has to come from something else. The work covers underfloor heating, air-to-water heat pumps and hot water cylinders, and the jobs we see most are deciding which kind of heat pump suits the home and not knowing whether a grant applies.

Space for an outdoor unit is rarely an issue near Sheet, so the design comes down to heat loss, radiators and hot water.

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company and NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

What we do, step by step

Every visit follows the same order: check the plan with you, protect the area, carry out the job, check the system and talk you through it. The visit itself takes anything from a couple of days for air-to-air to the best part of a week for air-to-water with radiator changes. For a place like Sheet, the timing is set with you and the travel is our side of the planning.

  1. It begins with your house and the heating it relies on now.
  2. Every room’s heat loss is worked out on site.
  3. The design covers the heat pump, emitters, hot water and outdoor unit.
  4. A fixed-price quote explains the cost, the grant position and the VAT.
  5. We install, commission and register the system under MCS.

Preparing for the visit

  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas

What air conditioning will not do

Before you book, it helps to know what’s not included:

  • Tax rulings, which only HMRC can give
  • Draught-proofing and insulation upgrades
  • Any gas work on the existing boiler

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we will say what we think.

Where we work

  • Underfloor heating
  • Hot water cylinders
  • Air-to-water heat pumps
  • Radiator systems
  • Homes heated by oil, LPG or gas
  • Air-to-air heat pumps

Why it’s worth doing now in Sheet

Choosing between air-to-water and air-to-air is easier with the facts. Air-to-water works with radiators and a cylinder, with a £7,500 grant for eligible homes, while air-to-air heats and cools rooms and has a £2,500 grant only in limited cases, and we explain which fits your home. An early booking makes the visit to Sheet easier to arrange.

Every job is different, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The equipment, how we reach it, the route between units and the work needed all play a part.

Why choose AirCon Doctor in Sheet

  • Diagnosis first, then a fixed price
  • An F-Gas certified company, as the law requires
  • Covering London and the South East
  • Fixed-price quotes after a survey or pictures

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too across Hampshire. Larger buildings can be done in stages to keep disruption down.

Whether it’s one property or many, you get the same standard: a look at the job first, a fixed-price quote, work booked with the occupier and written records afterwards.

Air source heat pumps in Sheet: the local picture

The 2021 Census found about 74% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Finding room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder is seldom a problem in homes like these. The middle of Sheet is part of the Sheet Conservation Area. About 21 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Sheet, Sheet House (grade II) among them. That affects heat pumps: listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas limit where the outdoor unit can go under permitted development. Where needed, we check with East Hampshire council, usually the planning authority here.

Period properties close to Church of St Mary Magdalene can suit a heat pump, though insulation and any heritage protection are checked first. Uppark, roughly 4.5 miles south, is a reminder to check your home’s listing status: permitted development doesn’t cover listed buildings.

Sheet questions

Will you come out to Sheet?

Yes. Sheet is within the area we cover across London and the South East. We’re based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in Sheet?

Sheet is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. The amount depends on the type of heat pump, and the survey confirms which applies. You do not apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.

Do you work on all makes?

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and tell you why.

What warranty do I get?

The manufacturer’s warranty, on the manufacturer’s terms. Terms differ by brand, and we set them out on your quote.

Will I need planning consent for an air source heat pump?

Often not in England, as many heat pumps on houses are permitted development provided the conditions are met. These include an outdoor unit of no more than 1.5 m³, compliance with MCS 020(a), not being used solely for cooling and not being within the curtilage of a listed building.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

Anyone installing, repairing or servicing the refrigerant side must be qualified, and their company certified. Ask to see proof before booking anyone and we will gladly show you ours.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. For simple jobs, photos and a few details can be enough, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.

From one of our customers

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
