Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:

  • Know your manufacturer’s servicing conditions
  • Keep doors and windows closed while the system is cooling
  • Report drips, smells or noises early

Any fault we find is explained, with a fixed price for the repair. Nothing extra is done without your say-so and the decision is always yours.

Cleaning the filters between services helps a great deal. On many wall-mounted units, the filters lift out easily and the user manual explains how often.

Air conditioning servicing in Sheet

A manufacturer’s warranty can come with conditions, and regular servicing may be one of them. The terms differ from brand to brand, so it’s worth reading yours, and we can explain what yours says. You get a record of each service to keep with the warranty paperwork. The work covers VRF systems, wall-mounted split systems and air-to-air heat pumps, and people most often call us about air conditioning that isn’t cooling as well as it did and F-gas leak checks falling due.

We plan the trip to Sheet and can service more than one unit in one visit.

We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

What air conditioning servicing can’t fix

We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what air conditioning servicing will not do:

  • A refrigerant leak, which needs finding and repairing, not topping up
  • A failed compressor, fan motor or circuit board, which needs a repair
  • Heat from large windows, roof spaces or equipment beyond the system’s capacity

Not sure which it is? You can call 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on in Sheet

  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Ducted systems
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Multi-split systems
  • VRF systems
  • Ceiling cassettes

The process

Our engineers arrive at the time agreed with you and run through the plan before anything else. Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. The work itself takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. We plan the trip to Sheet around you.

  1. We start with the basics, such as the brand, the number of indoor units and any symptoms.
  2. The system is run and checked before anything is opened up.
  3. Filters are cleaned, coils treated and the drain tray and pipe cleared.
  4. Electrical connections, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, with an F-gas leak check where the system requires one.
  5. We leave you a record of the service and explain anything we found.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
  • Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time

Keeping systems in Sheet running

Central Sheet is inside the Sheet Conservation Area. Listed buildings are part of the picture here: about 21 within half a mile of the centre, such as Sheet House (grade II). That only matters for replacements, where a new outdoor unit on a protected building can need consent. The 2021 Census found about 74% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Let us know where the outdoor unit sits and whether a ladder is needed to reach it.

For a school like Sheet Primary School, maintenance visits can be booked out of term.

Sheet questions

Do you cover smaller places like Sheet?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Does my air con in Sheet need a yearly service?

Once a year suits most home systems. Check your manufacturer’s warranty terms too, as some of them make regular servicing a condition.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us in Sheet and across Hampshire. Let us know who the records should go to.

Which brands do you work with?

The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and explain why.

Will you regas my air conditioning on a service?

The service checks how the refrigerant circuit is performing, but doesn’t include adding gas. If it’s low, a leak repair comes first and the regas follows with a fixed price for each step.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

Anyone installing, repairing or servicing the refrigerant side must be qualified, and their company certified. It’s worth checking before you book, and we’re happy to show ours.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

Responsibility is shared between the operator, normally whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

When to call us in Sheet

Vibration and temperature changes can loosen electrical connections over time. A loose connection can cause faults that come and go which is why they’re checked on every service.

It’s time to call us if you are dealing with:

  • An unpleasant odour when the system runs
  • Weaker cooling than last year
  • Systems that haven’t been serviced for a while

A service once a year suits most home systems, and some business systems need more.
