Heat pump installers in Rowly
For MCS certified installation of air source heat pumps for heating and hot water, with the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant applied for in Rowly, one call is all it takes, from the first look to sign-off. F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and Checkatrade members.
- No space for a hot water cylinder
- Plans to switch to electric heating with a heat pump
- Working out whether radiators need upsizing
What happens if it’s left?
Planning rules have specific conditions. We look at the planning position early, so there are no surprises covering listed buildings, conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. A dirty or faulty system works harder and costs more to run.
Typical ranges are on our prices page, but each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed-price quote, call 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk, and we will explain what it covers.

Air source heat pumps in Rowly
As an MCS certified installer, we fit air source heat pumps for homes in Rowly and the rest of Surrey. Air-to-water systems feed your radiators or underfloor heating and hot water cylinder, while air-to-air systems heat rooms directly through indoor units and can cool them too. We’ll explain which type fits your home and why. Common call-outs are for wanting to stop using oil, LPG or gas for heating and not knowing whether a grant applies, on radiator systems, underfloor heating and homes heated by oil, LPG or gas.
If your home in or near Rowly is heated by oil, LPG or electric heaters with no mains gas, an extra £1,500 is available through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme until March 2027.
Aftercare is simple, and most of it is in the manual: keep the outdoor unit clear, follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and book a service at the interval they recommend. It also keeps you on the right side of any warranty terms that ask for servicing.

Rowly questions
Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Rowly?
Yes, if the home and the heat pump meet the scheme’s rules: Rowly is in England, where it applies. It gives £7,500 towards an air-to-water or ground source heat pump, or £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump that replaces the fossil-fuel heating and meets the whole home’s heating need. You don’t apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.
Is planning permission needed for a heat pump in Rowly?
That depends on the building and where the outdoor unit goes. Historic England lists about 7 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Rowly. A heat pump on a house can be permitted development if it meets the conditions, including the MCS noise check, but not within the grounds of a listed building, and in a conservation area the outdoor unit can’t face a road. Where necessary, we check with the planning department at Waverley council, typically the authority for Rowly.
Are my radiators big enough for a heat pump?
It varies from room to room. We check them all during the survey, so the quote covers any changes.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is written up, with F-Gas records where refrigerant work is involved.
What does F-Gas certified mean?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
Each manufacturer decides. Where servicing is a condition, a missed service could give the manufacturer grounds to refuse a claim and we will tell you what your brand asks for.
Are you F-Gas certified?
We are an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We are also Checkatrade members.
How the job changes from property to property
Hot water cylinders
Existing cylinders may not be suitable for a heat pump, and we explain whether yours can stay.
VAT on heat pumps
This is general information, not tax advice.
How the visit works
We book the visit for a day and time that suit you, and we let you know if plans need to move. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your pictures or the details you gave us. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. From there, the work takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. Visits to Rowly are agreed with you in advance and planned so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
- It begins with your house and the heating it relies on now.
- Every room’s heat loss is worked out on site.
- From those figures we size the heat pump and decide on radiators, cylinder and outdoor position.
- You get a fixed price, with any grant and the VAT set out.
- We install, commission and register the system under MCS.
Before we arrive
- Let us know where the consumer unit is
- Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
How to get a quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.
Advice
Air source heat pumps in Rowly: the local picture
About 70% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. Detached and semi-detached houses usually have room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder.
Every heat pump design starts with a room-by-room heat loss calculation.

Common problems we fix in Rowly
People also ask about air-to-air heat pumps because they heat and cool. They warm rooms directly through indoor units and switch to cooling in warm weather. The grant only applies in some cases, so we check first.
Common reasons people call us include:
- Not knowing whether a grant applies
- Questions about where the outdoor unit can go
- Replacing a combi boiler with a heat pump
With Chilworth Manor about 4.3 miles north, it’s worth asking whether your own home is listed before planning a heat pump.
What to look for in a quote
- Whose warranty applies, and on what terms
- Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it
- Whether the quote shows VAT clearly
