Air source heat pumps for Monk's Hill

Air source heat pumps for homes and businesses in Monk's Hill

Air-to-water heat pumps heat your hot water through a cylinder. Homes with a combi boiler may not have a cylinder, so finding space for one is part of the survey. With air-to-air, hot water has to come from something else. Typical jobs include not knowing whether a grant applies and radiators that may be too small for a heat pump, on underfloor heating, air-to-air heat pumps and hot water cylinders.

Space for an outdoor unit is rarely an issue near Monk's Hill, so the design focuses on heat loss and radiators.

Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we set them out on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, and we’re happy to talk you through them.

Heat pumps in Monk's Hill: local notes

The last census (2021) found about 75% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Finding room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder is seldom a problem in homes like these. Central Monk's Hill is inside a conservation area. Limekiln Farmhouse, listed at grade II, is one of roughly 11 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Monk's Hill’s centre. So the heat pump survey asks two extra questions here: is the home listed, and is it inside a conservation area?

Sizing comes from the heat each room loses on a cold day, not from the size of the old boiler. Older homes near Church of St Michael may need extra checks for planning and heat loss before a heat pump is designed.

Monk's Hill is about 9 miles west of Ashford, in Kent. Wherever you are in the TN27 postcode area, we can help with air source heat pumps. Across Kent, we cover 922 places, and Monk's Hill is one of them. Eastbourne, roughly 30 miles off, has its own page on this site.

The closest recent job we can point to from Monk's Hill was on Mermaid Street, Rye (TN31), about 13 miles south: installing three Fujitsu wall-mounted units in guest bedrooms, with the outdoor units positioned in the hotel’s walled rear garden.

The Cut and Smarden Road and the roads off them are all inside our area. Postcode districts we cover here: TN27. Before you call an engineer

Write down what you notice: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo of the display helps even more.

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrics need care too. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

Looking after it afterwards

How well a system lasts depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Read the manufacturer’s warranty terms for your brand
  • Do not block radiators or indoor units with furniture
  • Store the MCS certificate and warranty documents together

Should you have questions after the install, call us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we will look into it. A yearly service is a good habit.

Keep insulation and draught-proofing in good order because it reduces the heat the system needs to supply.

When it’s something else

In fairness, some problems need a different answer:

  • Formal advice on VAT for your situation
  • Planning approval where permitted development does not apply
  • Disconnecting or servicing a gas boiler

If you are not sure, just call 07833 053749 or send an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Homes heated by oil, LPG or gas
  • Radiator systems
  • Underfloor heating
  • Hot water cylinders
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Air-to-water heat pumps

The process

Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. So on the day, you do not need a separate electrician for the electrical side. On site, it takes a few days for most air-to-water installations, with air-to-air systems often quicker. We agree a date with you and plan the visit to Monk's Hill so we arrive with what’s needed.

  1. It begins with your house and the heating it relies on now.
  2. We measure heat loss for every room.
  3. The design covers the heat pump, emitters, hot water and outdoor unit.
  4. You get a fixed price, with any grant and the VAT set out.
  5. We install, commission and register the system under MCS.

How to prepare

  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
  • Keep pets and children away from the work area
  • Move furniture away from the wall where we’ll be working

Getting a quote

Here’s what helps us quote: the address and the type of property, a few photos, the brand and model of anything already fitted and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, call 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.

Advice

Your questions about air source heat pumps in Monk's Hill

Will you come out to Monk's Hill?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. We are based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in Monk's Hill?

Monk's Hill is in England, where the Boiler Upgrade Scheme runs. The grant is £7,500 for an air source (air-to-water) heat pump and £2,500 for an air-to-air system that replaces the existing fossil-fuel heating. We hold MCS certification, so the application is ours to make for you.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes. Every job is looked at first, either on a site survey or from pictures and details for simple jobs. Then you get a fixed-price quote.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and we hold it.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

Does servicing affect my warranty?

It depends on the manufacturer’s terms. Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of the warranty, so it’s worth checking. Either way, keep a record of every service.

A customer’s words

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
