Your questions about air source heat pumps in Hampers Green
Is Hampers Green within the area you cover?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.
Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Hampers Green?
Hampers Green is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. For an air-to-water heat pump the amount is £7,500; an air-to-air system can get £2,500 if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating outright, meets the home’s full heating demand and is not an add-on to a boiler. The installer applies, and we’re MCS certified.
Which accreditations do you hold?
We are an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are also Checkatrade members.
Do you protect the property while you work?
Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts when we finish.
Which type of heat pump is right for my home?
The right choice depends on the property and what you need. Air-to-water can attract a £7,500 grant where eligible; air-to-air only qualifies for £2,500 under strict conditions. We explain the options after the survey.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, we work the same way: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.
How we handle air source heat pumps in Hampers Green
An air-to-water heat pump costs £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes), before the grant. In England and Wales, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers a £7,500 grant towards an eligible air-to-water installation and the installer makes the application. Not every home qualifies, so we check eligibility before you commit. Common call-outs are for no space for a hot water cylinder and questions about where the outdoor unit can go, across air-to-water heat pumps, underfloor heating and hot water cylinders.
For a home around Hampers Green that is off mains gas and heated by oil or LPG, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme adds an extra £1,500 until March 2027 for an air source or ground source heat pump, on top of the £7,500.
For a fault on a system that may still be under warranty, send us the make, model and installation date. We will tell you how the manufacturer’s warranty is likely to apply before any chargeable work goes ahead.

Before you call an engineer
Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you cannot see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.
Some faults have simple causes you can check first: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and call 07833 053749.
What a heat pump looks like in Hampers Green
Valuation Office Agency council tax records put about 43% of homes in Hampers Green and the neighbourhoods around it before 1919, and about 73% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. In older homes, the heat loss calculation is especially important, as solid walls and draughts change the size of heat pump needed. Finding room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder is seldom a problem in homes like these. The Petworth Conservation Area lies close to the centre of Hampers Green, within about a third of a mile. Historic England lists about 16 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Hampers Green, including Petworth House (grade I). Where a home is affected, the outdoor unit position is settled with the local planning authority (usually Chichester council) before the heat pump design is finished.
Petworth House lies about 0.6 miles south. Owners of listed homes need consent before a heat pump is fitted, so it’s one of our first questions. If your home is one of the older properties near The Church of St Mary the Virgin, the survey checks whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before the outdoor unit position is chosen.

How it works
Everything the job needs comes with us, from tools and test equipment to ladders and dust sheets. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. The visit takes a few days for most air-to-water installations, with air-to-air systems often quicker. Pictures of the space and where the outdoor unit could go let us plan the work in Hampers Green.
- You tell us about the home and what you want from a heat pump.
- The survey checks heat loss, emitters, hot water and the outdoor unit position.
- We recommend air-to-water or air-to-air and check the grant position.
- Installation follows on the agreed dates.
- After commissioning, you get the MCS certificate and a handover.
Getting ready for the visit
- Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go
- Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
- Mention any parking restrictions near the property
How to get a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

Aftercare tips
Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. Our tips:
- Keep the outdoor unit clear all year
- Look at insulation alongside the heat pump
- Ask about the grant before you commit
Once commissioned, we register the installation with MCS and give you the certificate. File it with the warranty documents, as you may need it later.
Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and stored items. Airflow is what it runs on so keep it unobstructed.
Why act early in Hampers Green
A sudden boiler failure rarely leaves room to plan a heat pump properly. Planning ahead gives time for the heat loss survey, the design and the grant application while the old heating still works. Small faults tend to grow, so it’s worth dealing with them early.
Every job is different, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all play a part.
Why book with us
