One room or a whole building, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You will have a fixed price before work begins, with VAT shown clearly.

Air source heat pumps in Greatness

Air-to-water heat pumps heat your hot water through a cylinder. If you have a combi boiler and no cylinder, the survey looks at where one could go. Air-to-air systems do not heat hot water, so you’ll need another way to do that. If you are dealing with no space for a hot water cylinder and deciding which kind of heat pump suits the home, we can help.

Cottages and older homes near Greatness can lose heat faster, which a heat loss calculation will show. Sometimes insulation first is the better investment.

We are an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

Homes in Greatness and heat pumps

About 19 miles out from central London, Greatness is part of the South East area we work across.

Knole House lies about 1.7 miles south. Owners of listed homes need consent before a heat pump is fitted, so it’s one of our first questions. Period properties close to St John the Baptist can suit a heat pump, though insulation and any heritage protection are checked first.

Greatness is about 1 mile north-east of Sevenoaks, in Kent. Our engineers cover Greatness for air source heat pumps, along with the rest of Kent. Greatness is one of 922 towns, villages and districts in Kent we cover. There’s also a page for Bromley, about 11 miles away.

Our nearest recent job to Greatness was on Station Road, Orpington (BR6), about 8 miles north-west: installing three Daikin cassette units in the main office area and a wall-mounted unit in the client meeting room.

Streets in the area include Seal Road, Mill Lane and Sandy Lane, all of which are in our area. Our engineers cover all of TN13, TN14 and TN15 for air source heat pumps and the streets around it. If you are just outside Greatness, we cover Seal (1 mile east), Godden Green (2 miles south-east), Styants Bottom (3 miles east), Bitchet Green (3 miles south-east) and Stone Street (3 miles south-east). Further out, we also cover Maidstone (14 miles east), Dartford (11 miles north), Royal Tunbridge Wells (11 miles south) and Gravesend (12 miles north-east).

Landmarks near Greatness

Around Greatness, our work takes us to homes and businesses near The Old Bat and Ball pub, Wildernesse School and Knole Academy. There’s a railway station in Greatness itself: Bat & Ball station. Nearby you will also find Sevenoaks Museum (1.3 miles south) and Kemsing Castle Bank (1.7 miles north-east). Open spaces near Greatness include Dryhill Nature Reserve.

Common questions in Greatness

Will a heat pump in Greatness need planning permission?

There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. A conservation area takes in the middle of Greatness. On a house, an air source heat pump can often go ahead under permitted development, with an outdoor unit of no more than 1.5 cubic metres and an installation that meets MCS 020(a), which includes a noise check. Those rights do not reach the grounds of a listed building, and conservation areas rule out walls or roofs facing a road. If that might affect you, we ask the planning department at Sevenoaks council, typically the authority for Greatness.

Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Greatness?

Yes, the scheme covers homes in England, including Greatness, if they qualify. For an air-to-water heat pump the amount is £7,500; an air-to-air system can get £2,500 if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating outright, meets the home’s full heating demand and is not an add-on to a boiler. We hold MCS certification, so the application is ours to make for you.

Can I do the refrigerant work myself?

Not the refrigerant work. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.

Do you protect the property while you work?

We start with protection: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Holes and fixings are agreed with you, and we clean up afterwards when we finish.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we’ll suggest a schedule with a fixed price. Leak checks required by the F-gas rules can be built in for larger systems.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for problems that can’t wait for a planned visit. Call 07833 053749 and tell us what’s happened.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.

The process

The work area is kept tidy throughout, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. Any holes, fixings or cable routes are agreed with you before we drill. The visit takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. Seeing the property in pictures first helps us plan the trip to Greatness.

  1. You tell us about the home and what you want from a heat pump.
  2. We survey for heat loss and look at radiators, cylinder space and outdoor unit options.
  3. We explain which type of heat pump suits the home and whether a grant could apply.
  4. We install the heat pump and connect it up.
  5. After commissioning, you get the MCS certificate and a handover.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions near the property
  • Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand

Advice

Pricing air source heat pumps in Greatness

You will get a fixed price before work begins. It’s based on:

  • The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
  • One-off work versus a regular service cycle
  • How far the pipework has to run, and where

Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we will talk you through it.

Asking for a quote

To help us quote quickly, send us:

  • A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
  • The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
  • Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it

To get a fixed-price quote, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and tell us about the property and what you need. Photos help a lot. You will hear back from us the same working day.
