Air conditioning servicing in Greatness

Every hour, an indoor unit draws the room’s air through its filter and over its coil again and again. Whatever is in the air, from dust to pet hair, collects on the filter and coil. Servicing removes it, so the system can move air properly and the drain can do its job. If you’re dealing with error codes or flashing lights on the indoor unit and an unpleasant odour when the system runs, we can sort it out.

Outdoor units around Greatness tend to be close to gardens and hedges, which can clog the outdoor coil. Every service includes cleaning it.

Looking after a system is mostly common sense: clear space around the outdoor unit, the cleaning the manual describes and a service at the recommended interval. That also helps where the warranty terms ask for regular servicing.

Greatness questions

How often should air conditioning in Greatness be serviced?

Normally once a year for homes, more often for busy business systems. Larger systems holding 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more also need a leak check at least every 12 months under the F-gas rules.

Will you come out to Greatness?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

Responsibility is shared between the operator, normally whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting and managing agents, and businesses of every size across London and the South East. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.

Is an F-gas leak check a legal requirement for my system?

Under GOV.UK guidance, systems of 5 to under 50 tCO2e need a check at least every 12 months, and 50 to under 500 tCO2e every 6 months. Fitting leak detection lets you double the interval and we’ll confirm which band applies.

Are you F-Gas certified?

F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, and we’re Checkatrade members. Our engineers also hold the individual F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

Do you offer air conditioning maintenance contracts?

Yes, for homes and businesses. The visits, what each covers and the price are agreed with your quote, so servicing and any required leak checks stay on schedule.

What we do, step by step

Every visit follows the same order: agree the plan on site, put the dust sheets down, carry out the job, check the system and talk you through it. On site, the work takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. A few photos let us plan a visit to a place like Greatness.

  1. First, we agree a time and confirm the cost of the service.
  2. The engineer runs the system and checks how it’s performing.
  3. Filters, coils, fans and drains are cleaned and cleared.
  4. The electrics, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, with a leak check where required.
  5. A final test run follows, then you get the service record.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking and loading
  • Move furniture away from the wall where we will be working
  • Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area

Aftercare tips

Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. Our tips:

  • Keep to an annual service, or more often if needed
  • Keep plants, bins and stored items away from the outdoor unit
  • Keep doors and windows closed while the system is cooling

Run the system for a while after the visit and check it feels right. If you notice anything unusual, call 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we will talk it through.

Act on the early signs. Odd noises, smells and drips are cheaper to sort out before they grow than once the system has stopped.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.

Keep a note of anything odd: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo of the display helps even more.

Pricing air conditioning servicing in Greatness

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
  • One-off work versus a regular service cycle
  • What we find on the survey or diagnosis

One room or a whole building, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You’ll have a fixed price before work begins, with VAT shown clearly.

Before you get in touch

Good pictures often save a visit. The most useful are:

  • The fuse board and where it is in the property
  • A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
  • The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
