Commercial air conditioning near Greatness

Commercial air conditioning in Greatness, done properly

The right system depends on the building. Splits for small rooms, cassettes for open-plan ceilings, ducted for a hidden finish and VRF or VRV for many zones on one system. We set out the choices and the reasons behind our recommendation. Common call-outs are for ageing air conditioning that keeps breaking down and installs that must fit around trading hours, across VRF systems, ducted systems and wall-mounted split systems.

Businesses near Greatness often have room for outdoor units on the ground at the back, which keeps them tidy and easy to reach.

Looking after a system is mostly common sense: clear space around the outdoor unit, the cleaning the manual describes and a service at the recommended interval. That also helps where the warranty terms ask for regular servicing.

Different systems, different jobs

VRF and VRV systems

VRF (variable refrigerant flow), also called VRV, connects many indoor units to shared outdoor units. Rooms can have their own temperature settings making it a common choice for larger buildings.

Server and comms rooms

Server room systems need regular servicing to stay reliable and we can cover it under a contract.

When something else is needed

We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that won’t help, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • Getting landlord or building owner approval
  • Fire risk assessments
  • Issuing TM44 reports

If you’re not sure, just ring 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What the work covers

  • Multi-split systems
  • Server and comms room cooling
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • VRF systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Ducted systems

How the visit works

Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. So on the day, you don’t need a separate electrician for the electrical side. On site, it takes a few days for a small shop or office, longer for VRF across several floors. Around Greatness, access is typically simple, though gates and garden access are worth mentioning.

  1. First comes a survey, looking at the building and how it’s occupied.
  2. You get our recommendation and a fixed price.
  3. We agree the timing, with evening, weekend or phased work as needed.
  4. The system is installed, wired and connected to its controls.
  5. Commissioning and handover follow, with the F-gas records and manufacturer paperwork.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children away from the work area
  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area

How to get a quote

Here’s what helps us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, photos of the rooms or units, the make and model of any existing system and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, phone 07833 053749 or drop us a line.

Greatness: your questions answered

Is Greatness in your area for commercial air conditioning?

We do: Greatness falls inside our working area. Just phone us on 07833 053749 with a few details.

Is air conditioning in Greatness permitted development?

It depends on the property. The centre of Greatness is in a conservation area. An air-to-air system used for heating as well as cooling can be permitted development on a house if it meets the conditions, but a cooling-only unit isn’t covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road. Where necessary, we check with the local planning authority (for Greatness, normally Sevenoaks council).

Which commercial systems do you fit?

From one wall-mounted unit to VRF across several floors. Cassettes and ducted units are common choices for open-plan and visible spaces.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. That isn’t optional: it’s required by law, and AirCon Doctor is certified.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

Responsibility is shared between the operator, typically whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.

Do you provide F-Gas records?

Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.

From one of our customers

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
