Air source heat pumps for Crabtree

About our air source heat pumps in Crabtree

Every installation starts with a heat loss survey. It shows how much heat each room needs on a cold day so the system is sized to match. Guesswork leads to systems that are too big or too small. If you are dealing with choosing between air-to-water and air-to-air and deciding on the outdoor unit position, we can help.

Homes around Crabtree usually have room outside for a heat pump, so the design comes down to heat loss, radiators and hot water.

Warranty periods vary by brand and by product. Daikin, for instance, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, with longer extensions only on its air-to-water heat pumps. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

How we price air source heat pumps

The survey or diagnosis tells us what the work involves. We look at:

  • One-off work versus a regular service cycle
  • Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
  • The brand, model and parts involved

Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. For a fixed-price quote, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us, and we’ll explain what it covers.

Before you get in touch

There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:

  • The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
  • Wide pictures of the room or the existing unit
  • The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

Why act early in Crabtree

If the emitters cannot give out enough heat, some rooms won’t get warm enough. Checking and upsizing them as part of the installation avoids that. An early booking makes the visit to Crabtree easier to arrange.

What you pay depends on the system and the number of rooms or units, how easy the units are to reach and what the work involves. You get a fixed price before we start, so there are no surprises.

Your questions about air source heat pumps in Crabtree

Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Crabtree?

Crabtree is in England, where the Boiler Upgrade Scheme runs. It gives £7,500 towards an air-to-water or ground source heat pump, or £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump that replaces the fossil-fuel heating and meets the whole home’s heating need. You do not apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.

Will you come out to Crabtree?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. A few photos and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Will you make a mess?

We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and we tidy up as we go. At the end, we clear up and show you what we have done.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

Responsibility is shared between the operator, usually whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

Are my radiators big enough for a heat pump?

Some radiators may be fine as they are, and some may need to be larger. Heat pumps run at lower flow temperatures, so radiators give out less heat, and the survey checks each one.

Which accreditations do you hold?

We are an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We’re also Checkatrade members.

Will I need planning consent for an air source heat pump?

Under the Planning Portal rules, a heat pump on a house can often be permitted development. Listed buildings and their curtilages are excluded, and listed building consent is a separate matter, so we check for your property.

What a heat pump looks like in Crabtree

The last census (2021) found about 78% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Houses typically have space for an outdoor unit and a hot water cylinder. Roughly a third of a mile or less from central Crabtree, you reach the Crabtree Conservation Area. On the National Heritage List, around 6 entries fall within 0.5 miles of the middle of Crabtree; The Crabtree Inn (grade II) is one. For a heat pump, permitted development doesn’t apply within the grounds of a listed building, and in a conservation area the outdoor unit cannot go on a wall or roof facing a road, so we check with Horsham council, usually the planning authority here where needed.

Period properties close to Old Church House the Glebe can suit a heat pump, though insulation and any heritage protection are checked first. Historic houses such as Tyes Place, about 4.3 miles north-east, are a reminder that listed homes need consent before a heat pump goes in.

Crabtree is about 5 miles south-east of Horsham, in West Sussex. Crabtree gets the same approach as every job we take on: diagnosis first, a fixed price and proper paperwork when we’ve finished. Count every place we list in West Sussex and you reach 371, with Crabtree on the list.

How the visit works

Our engineers arrive at the time agreed with you and check the plan with you first. Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. The work itself takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. Somewhere like Crabtree, it helps to know about lanes, gates and where to park.

  1. We start with your plans and the property.
  2. A survey covers heat loss, radiators, hot water and where the outdoor unit could sit.
  3. We recommend air-to-water or air-to-air and check the grant position.
  4. We install the heat pump and connect it up.
  5. The job ends with commissioning, the MCS certificate and a walk through the controls.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions near the property
  • Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
  • Clear the space around the indoor unit, or where it will go

Getting a price

What a customer said

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
