Fixed-price quotes for air source heat pumps in Awbridge
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:
- The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
- The size of the job
- Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we look at the job first, from pictures or on a survey, and the price is agreed before we start.

Air source heat pumps for homes and businesses in Awbridge
We install air source heat pumps in Awbridge and across Hampshire, and we are MCS certified. There are two kinds: air-to-water, which heats radiators or underfloor heating and your hot water, and air-to-air, which warms rooms through indoor units and can also cool. We help you work out which suits your home. The work covers homes heated by oil, LPG or gas, hot water cylinders and underfloor heating, and common reasons people get in touch are wanting to stop using oil, LPG or gas for heating and checking emitters for a heat pump.
If your home in or near Awbridge is heated by oil, LPG or electric heaters with no mains gas, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme adds an extra £1,500 until March 2027 for an air source or ground source heat pump, on top of the £7,500.
Equipment warranty comes from the manufacturer, on its own terms, and we set them out on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, and we’re happy to talk you through them.

Heat pumps in Awbridge: local notes
Valuation Office Agency council tax records show about 45% of homes across Awbridge and its surrounding area were built in 2000 or later, and Census 2021 figures found about 73% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Better insulated, newer homes are often a good match for a heat pump. Detached and semi-detached houses usually have room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder.
If your home is one of the older properties near Church of All Saints, the survey checks whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before the outdoor unit position is chosen. Mottisfont Abbey, roughly 2 miles north, is a reminder to check your home’s listing status: permitted development doesn’t cover listed buildings.
Awbridge is about 3 miles north-west of Romsey, in Hampshire. Across the SO51 area, our engineers can take on air source heat pumps. Awbridge is one of 683 places in Hampshire we cover. Guildford, roughly 45 miles off, has its own page on this site.
Our engineers work on Romsey Road, Spring Field and Danes Road and the roads around them. Our engineers cover all of SO51 and the streets around it. What the work involves, system by system
Hot water cylinders
Existing cylinders may not be suitable for a heat pump and we tell you if it needs replacing.
Air-to-air heat pumps
A £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant is available for air-to-air only if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating and meets the full heating demand. It also has to be fitted by an MCS certified installer, in a home.

How the visit works
Protection comes first: dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work, and we ask before moving anything. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. The work on site takes anything from a couple of days for air-to-air to the best part of a week for air-to-water with radiator changes, and we clear up before we go. A note on how to find the property and where to park makes a visit to Awbridge easier.
- We find out about your home and the heating you have now.
- We measure heat loss for every room.
- The design covers the heat pump, emitters, hot water and outdoor unit.

What owners can safely do
There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.
For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Awbridge questions
Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in Awbridge?
Awbridge is in England, where the Boiler Upgrade Scheme runs. It gives £7,500 towards an air-to-water or ground source heat pump, or £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump that replaces the fossil-fuel heating and meets the whole home’s heating need. We hold MCS certification, so the application is ours to make for you.
Do I need planning permission for a heat pump in Awbridge?
There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. The half-mile around the middle of Awbridge holds about 7 listed buildings and structures. The permitted development rules for heat pumps leave out listed buildings and stop outdoor units going on road-facing walls or roofs in conservation areas. Anything outside the rules needs an application, and we raise it with the local planning authority (for Awbridge, usually Test Valley council) first.
Can I do the refrigerant work myself?
No, not the refrigerant side. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
Which brands do you work with?
The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and tell you why.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
Each manufacturer decides. Where servicing is a condition, a missed service could give the manufacturer grounds to refuse a claim and we’ll tell you what your brand asks for.
How quickly will you reply?
The same working day. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, with a fixed price before work starts.
Are you F-Gas certified?
As the law requires for refrigerant work, we’re an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.
