For a church or hall like The Parish Church of St John the Baptist, any outdoor unit needs the right consents first. For a surgery or clinic in the St. Ebba's Hospital area, a planned maintenance contract keeps the system clean and its records up to date.

About our commercial air conditioning in Stoneleigh

Businesses cannot always stop for an installation. Work can be done in the evening, at weekends or in phases so disruption is kept down. The programme is agreed before we start. Common call-outs are for changes of use that need a new layout and offices that get too hot in summer, across server and comms room cooling, ducted systems and wall-mounted split systems.

For a business in or near Stoneleigh, an air-to-air system can heat and cool, which can replace old heaters in shops and offices.

Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we explain those terms on your quote. Each brand sets its own conditions, and we are happy to talk you through them.

Stoneleigh: your questions answered

Is Stoneleigh within the area you cover?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. We’re based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

Is air conditioning in Stoneleigh permitted development?

There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. The half-mile around the middle of Stoneleigh holds about 2 listed buildings and structures. Since 2025, an air-to-air heat pump on a house can count as permitted development if it meets the conditions and is not used only for cooling. Listed buildings still need consent, and in a conservation area a road-facing wall or roof is not allowed under those rules. If there’s any doubt, we ask the planning department at Epsom and Ewell council, usually the authority for Stoneleigh.

What are the F-gas responsibilities for commercial air conditioning?

The duties depend on how much refrigerant the system holds. From 5 tCO2e, leak checks and records are needed with automatic leak detection at 500 tCO2e and above.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own from all the leading brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

Can you look after our air conditioning after it’s installed?

Yes. A contract keeps the system serviced and any required leak checks on schedule, with records kept for each visit.

Can you do our TM44 air conditioning inspection?

We do not carry out the inspection itself, as it needs an accredited energy assessor. What we do is prepare the system and carry out the improvements the report suggests.

Can I do any of the installation myself?

Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That’s the law, not just our preference, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.

How we price commercial air conditioning

Our prices page gives typical ranges, and your quote is built on your job. The quote depends on:

  • Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
  • What state the existing equipment is in
  • How easy the units are to reach

A single unit or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You’ll have a fixed price before work begins, and the quote sets out the VAT.

What to send for a quote

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. Try to include:

  • The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
  • Your installation or service records
  • Your consumer unit or fuse board

For a fixed-price quote, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and tell us about the property and what you need. Photos help a lot. You’ll hear back from us the same working day.

What we do, step by step

We keep the work area tidy as we go, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. If we need to drill through a wall, we agree the spot with you first. On site, it takes anything from a day or two for a small office to several weeks of phased work on a large building. Around Stoneleigh, access is normally simple, though gates and garden access are worth mentioning.

  1. An engineer walks the building with you to understand its layout, its users and its heat sources.
  2. The written quote is fixed and lists the plant, where it goes and the order of works.
  3. Installation is scheduled to fit the business, with out-of-hours and phased work where needed.
  4. We fit the units, run and test the pipework, connect the condensate and wire in the controls.
  5. Commissioning, F-gas records and a handover of the controls finish the job.

How to prepare

  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas

Before you call an engineer

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.

Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you cannot see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.

What a customer said

“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
