Commercial air conditioning in Stede Quarter

Commercial air conditioning in Stede Quarter

Where equipment generates heat around the clock, the cooling has to keep pace. The design accounts for the equipment’s heat and can include a second unit as backup so one failure does not take everything down. The work covers server and comms room cooling, wall-mounted split systems and ducted systems, and the jobs we see most are new tenancies needing cooling and heating and R410A systems getting dearer to top up.

If you run a village hall or similar building near Stede Quarter, heating and cooling that warms up fast suits a space used on and off.

Looking after a system is mostly common sense: clear space around the outdoor unit, the cleaning the manual describes and a service at the recommended interval. That also helps where the warranty terms ask for regular servicing.

Stede Quarter: your questions answered

Is Stede Quarter in your area for commercial air conditioning?

We do: Stede Quarter falls inside our working area. Tell us a little about the job and we’ll take it from there.

Will you come out to Stede Quarter?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Why use an F-Gas certified company?

Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and we hold it.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

How long does a commercial installation take?

An installation takes a few days for a small shop or office, longer for VRF across several floors. The survey lets us set a firm programme, so call us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk to arrange one.

Does servicing affect my warranty?

It can, for some brands. Read the manufacturer’s terms, or send us the make and model and we will explain them and stick to the interval they set.

Do you have a 24/7 line?

Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns that cannot wait. Call 07833 053749 and tell us what’s happened.

Stede Court, listed at grade II, is one of roughly 8 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Stede Quarter’s centre. Before any outdoor unit is fixed here, we find out whether the building is protected. Where it is, Ashford council, normally the planning authority here has the final say on what’s allowed.

For a surgery or clinic in the Benenden Hospital area, a planned maintenance contract keeps the system clean and its records up to date. Larger commercial systems need F-gas leak checks and, over 12 kW of cooling, TM44 inspections.

How the job changes from property to property

Ceiling cassettes

Cassettes sit in the ceiling and blow air in several directions. They’re common in offices, retail and dining areas with suspended ceilings.

Shops and restaurants

Dining areas fill and empty over the course of service, so the system and its controls need to respond.

For landlords and property managers

We work for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as homeowners and businesses. Tell us who the contact on site is and who should receive the paperwork and we’ll copy in whoever needs it.

For anyone managing more than one building, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Every address has its own paperwork, so each one has its own history.

How the visit works

Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first, so you can plan around it. For businesses, we can usually work room by room or zone by zone. The work takes a matter of days for a modest fit-out, with larger buildings phased floor by floor or zone by zone. Seeing the property in photos first means the trip to Stede Quarter can be planned properly.

  1. We start with the details of the building and the problem.
  2. A site survey confirms the heat load, the layout and the access.
  3. The options, cost and timing are set out in a fixed-price quote.
  4. We install around your hours, phased where needed.
  5. The system is commissioned and maintenance can be arranged.

Advice

Safe owner checks

Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrics need care too. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.

From one of our customers

“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
