Commercial air conditioning in Standen

There’s no single best commercial system. Wall-mounted splits suit small offices and single rooms, cassettes suit open ceilings, ducted units hide away in ceiling voids, and VRF or VRV serves many rooms from shared outdoor units. We explain the options and why we’d choose one over another. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, server and comms room cooling and ducted systems, and people most often call us about leak check schedules that have slipped and work raised by a TM44 inspection.

If you run a village hall or similar building near Standen, heating and cooling that warms up fast suits a space used on and off, and it can heat as well as cool.

Warranty periods vary by brand and by product. For instance, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and its longer extensions apply to its air-to-water units only. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

Let and managed properties

Under the GB F-gas rules, responsibility for leak checks is shared between whoever operates the equipment and the engineers who work on it. Where a building is let or managed, the lease or contract should make clear who looks after the system, and we can work for either side.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease or tenancy agreement normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party and send the records to whoever needs them.

Commercial systems over 12 kW need a TM44 inspection at least every five years. For a surgery or clinic in the Benenden Hospital area, a planned maintenance contract keeps the system clean and its records up to date.

What we do, step by step

Protection comes first: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby, and we ask before moving anything. Then the electrics are made safe and the work begins. It takes from a couple of days for a few cassettes to a planned programme for a whole building, and we tidy up before we leave. Seeing the property in pictures first means the trip to Standen can be planned properly.

  1. We visit the site to look at the building, how it’s used and what the system needs to do.
  2. A fixed-price quote follows, covering the system type, the layout and the timing.
  3. We agree a programme that suits the site, including evening, weekend or phased installation.
  4. The system goes in, from units and pipework to drainage, wiring and controls.
  5. Finally it’s commissioned and handed over, with the refrigerant records and manuals for your files.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
  • Let us know where we can park and unload
  • Clear access to the fuse board

How to get a quote

Here’s what helps us quote: the address and the type of property, a few pictures, the brand and model of anything already fitted and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, ring 07833 053749 or use the quote form.

Before you call an engineer

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are normally the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.

Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and phone 07833 053749.

Common questions in Standen

Can you do commercial air conditioning in Standen?

Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and Standen is part of that. To start, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier with a few photos.

Is Standen within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Do you work on all makes?

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and tell you why.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

For some brands, yes. Send us the make and model and we’ll tell you what the manufacturer expects and stick to the interval they set.

Will you work on another installer’s system?

Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

Do you install in the evenings or at weekends?

Yes, we plan out-of-hours, weekend and phased installs to keep disruption down. We set out the timing before work starts.

What warranty do I get?

The manufacturer’s warranty, on the manufacturer’s terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.
