Leave it or put it right?

A well-planned programme lets the building stay open while the work goes on. Waiting for a failure removes that choice. An early booking makes the visit to Norcot easier to arrange.

Typical ranges are on our prices page, but each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed-price quote, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us, and we’ll explain what it covers.

Commercial air conditioning in Norcot, done properly

Installation is only the start. A maintenance contract keeps servicing and leak checks on schedule, with the records kept up to date with the cost agreed up front. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns. Common call-outs are for planning ahead for the HFC phase-down and F-gas leak checks and records that are overdue, on server and comms room cooling, ceiling cassettes and wall-mounted split systems.

Around Norcot, commercial jobs are normally a shop, surgery, pub, office or workshop. Many need just one to four indoor units, sized from a site survey.

Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we set them out on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

Let and managed properties

Records are where property maintenance often slips. Each visit produces a dated record, plus the F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved, ready for a tenant, a buyer or an inspection.

We also work for facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings in Norcot and across Reading. Larger buildings can be done in stages to keep disruption down.

Different systems, different jobs

F-gas records and TM44

Good records make both F-gas audits and TM44 inspections easier and we help you keep it organised.

Ceiling cassettes

Installing a cassette needs room in the void and a way to drain the water. Many include a pump to move the water away and that is checked when it’s serviced.

What happens on the day

Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. On the day, both are in the same hands. On site, it takes a matter of days for a modest fit-out, with larger buildings phased floor by floor or zone by zone. Photos of the room and the outside wall help us plan a job near Norcot.

  1. First comes a survey, looking at the building and how it’s occupied.
  2. We recommend a system and send a fixed-price quote.
  3. We agree the timing, with evening, weekend or phased work as needed.
  4. We install the units, pipework, drainage, electrics and controls.
  5. We commission the system and hand over the F-gas records and controls.

How to prepare

  • Clear access to the fuse board
  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand

Every quote shows the VAT clearly, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. VAT can differ between homes and businesses and between kinds of work, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. To get one, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.

Advice

FAQs for Norcot

Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in Norcot?

That depends on the building and where the outdoor unit goes. The half-mile around the middle of Norcot holds about 3 listed buildings and structures. An air-to-air system used for heating as well as cooling can be permitted development on a house if it meets the conditions, but a cooling-only unit is not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road. Where necessary, we check with the planning department at Reading council, usually the authority for Norcot.

Do you cover Norcot for commercial air conditioning?

Yes, Norcot is within the area we cover. Just ring 07833 053749 or use the quote form with a few details.

Can I do any of the installation myself?

No, not the refrigerant side. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.

How long does a commercial installation take?

An installation takes a few days for a small shop or office, longer for VRF across several floors. We confirm the timing after the survey, so call us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier to arrange one.

What accreditations do you have?

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We’re also Checkatrade members.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. Leak checks required by the F-gas rules can be built in for larger systems.
