Commercial air con in Blean
Our engineers work in Blean on commercial air conditioning. A look at the job first, a fixed-price quote and written records at the end.
- Planning ahead for the HFC phase-down
- New tenancies needing cooling and heating
- Systems that need out-of-hours or phased installation
Looking after it afterwards
Looking after the system is mostly common sense. A few tips:
- File every leak check and service record in one place
- Keep outdoor units clear of rubbish and stored goods
- Plan the air conditioning alongside the fit-out
We show your team how to use the controls, so the system is run the way it was designed. Simple settings make a real difference to comfort and running.
Planned maintenance is the best way to keep a commercial system healthy. The schedule and cost are fixed up front.
Commercial air conditioning in Blean
The right system depends on the building. Wall-mounted splits suit small offices and single rooms, cassettes suit open ceilings, ducted units hide away in ceiling voids, and VRF or VRV serves many rooms from shared outdoor units. We set out the choices and the reasons behind our recommendation. If the problem is IT rooms that need resilient cooling and TM44 recommendations that need acting on, we can sort it out.
In a village like Blean, commercial air conditioning is usually for a pub, a shop, a surgery, a village hall or a rural business. Older buildings may be listed, so planning comes first.
Equipment warranty comes from the manufacturer, on its own terms, and we explain those terms on your quote. Each brand sets its own conditions, and we are happy to talk you through them.

There are about 9 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens, about 10 schools and colleges and about 6 care homes, nurseries and hospitals in and around Blean, up to about a mile and a half out, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Restaurants, hotels, schools and care settings each need cooling designed for their hours and heat loads.
Before any plant goes outside a building like Church of St Cosmus and St Damian, its trustees may need planning or heritage advice, and we work with whoever gives it. Schools such as Blean Primary School usually have the work done in the holidays, when classrooms are empty.

The process
Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we explain what was done and answer your questions, and anything that needs a follow-up is pointed out there and then. All told, the work takes from a couple of days for a few cassettes to a planned programme for a whole building. Photos of the room and the outside of the property help us plan a visit to Blean.
- First comes a site survey of the building, its occupancy and the heat it has to deal with.
- The written quote is fixed and lists the plant, where it goes and the order of works.
- We agree a programme that suits the site, including evening, weekend or phased installation.
- We fit the units, run and test the pipework, connect the condensate and wire in the controls.
- We commission the system, record the refrigerant details and hand over the controls and documents.
How to prepare
- Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
- Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
- Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work

Advice
Owner checks or an engineer?
Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.
Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
Pricing commercial air conditioning in Blean
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- What electrical work the job needs
- What kind of system it is
- How easy the units are to reach
A single unit or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. The price is fixed before any work starts, with VAT shown clearly.
What we need to know
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
- Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
- The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
Every quote starts with a look at the job, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your photos and details. After that, we send a fixed price so you know the cost before we begin.
Your questions about commercial air conditioning in Blean
Can you do commercial air conditioning in Blean?
We do: Blean falls inside our working area. Just call us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form with a few details.
Is air conditioning in Blean permitted development?
It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. There’s a conservation area, the Blean Conservation Area, close to central Blean. Permitted development only covers heat pumps that aren’t used solely for cooling, and not within the grounds of a listed building. Conservation areas add limits on outdoor units facing a road. Where needed, we check with Canterbury City council, which is normally the planning authority for Blean.
Will skipping a service affect the warranty?
It can, for some brands. Send us the make and model and we’ll tell you what the manufacturer expects and stick to the interval they set.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.
Which accreditations do you hold?
F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.
Can you do our TM44 air conditioning inspection?
No, the inspection needs an accredited energy assessor. We can prepare for the inspection and put right what it finds.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for breakdowns that cannot wait. Call 07833 053749 and tell us what’s happened.
From one of our customers
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
