Air conditioning across Tyburn

Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Tyburn

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, with VRF for larger buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see, and we explain the options on the survey. When someone in Tyburn asks us for air con, the first questions are typically price and who will fit it. Our typical prices are on the site, and every install is done by F-Gas qualified engineers.

Top-floor flats and rooms with big south- or west-facing windows tend to be the first to overheat in London. A single wall-mounted unit in the worst room is often where people start, and a multi-split can cover more rooms from one outdoor unit where space outside is short.

Aftercare is simple, and most of it is in the manual: keep the outdoor unit clear, follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and book a service at the interval they recommend. It also keeps you on the right side of any warranty terms that ask for servicing.

What happens on the day

Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we show you what we’ve done and answer any questions, and anything that needs a follow-up is pointed out there and then. All told, the work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. A few photos of the room, the outside wall and the fuse board help us plan a job in Tyburn.

  1. Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
  2. Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
  3. Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where needed.
  4. Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about parking and loading
  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
  • Move furniture away from the wall where we will be working

Getting a price

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

Advice

What air conditioning can’t fix

We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that won’t help, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • Gas boiler or central heating faults (we do not work on gas boilers)
  • A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
  • Building damp that has a structural cause

If in doubt, phone us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What the work covers

  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Ducted systems
  • VRF systems
  • Multi-split systems
  • Wall-mounted split systems

After we’ve gone

A little care keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:

  • File the paperwork with the manual
  • Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
  • Never run the system with the filters out

We show you how to take the filters out and clean them. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, or as the manual recommends, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter.

Book an annual service. The engineer cleans the coils and drain, checks the electrics and the refrigerant circuit and catches small problems early, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.

FAQs for Tyburn

Can I have air conditioning in a flat in Tyburn?

In many cases, yes, once the lease and the building’s rules are checked. Permitted development rules for flats are tighter than for houses, so we check the outdoor unit position and give you the details to send to the freeholder or managing agent.

Do you cover Tyburn for air conditioning?

We do: Tyburn falls inside our working area. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and AirCon Doctor is certified.

What warranty do I get?

It’s the manufacturer’s, and the terms are theirs. Some terms depend on regular servicing by a qualified engineer, so keep your service records.

Which type of system should I choose?

There’s no single best type. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes, always. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey tells us what the job needs and how to do it, and the quote is based on that.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes, always. New installations come with commissioning details, F-Gas records and warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.

What an install looks like in Tyburn

Valuation Office Agency council tax records put about 50% of homes in Tyburn and the neighbourhoods around it before 1919, and about 91% of households live in flats, according to the 2021 Census. Older properties often mean solid walls and period details, so pipe runs are planned to stay neat and out of sight. For a flat, we look at balconies, flat roofs and rear walls for the outdoor unit, and the lease often needs checking first. London installs often hinge on outside space, the lease and access to the building.

If you work from home near London Paddington station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool.

Do you need air conditioning in Tyburn?

Some people come to us for heating rather than cooling. Direct electric heaters convert electricity into heat one for one, while an air-to-air heat pump moves heat from outside, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. Most modern split systems work this way.

Reasons to give us a call include:

  • A portable unit with a hose out of the window
  • Old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient
  • Working from home in a room that gets too warm

Around Church of the Annunciation, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install.
