Need air conditioning in Three Ashes?

Signs you need air conditioning in Three Ashes

Commercial spaces gain heat from people, equipment, lighting and glazing. Comfortable staff and customers are the usual reason businesses get in touch, and some rooms need cooling for the equipment as much as the people.

Any of these is worth a proper look:

  • Expensive direct electric heating
  • Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
  • Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in

Living close to Church of St. Mary? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.

What your quote should include

  • If the figure could change on the day
  • Who does the electrical work, and whether they can certify it
  • What happens if the job turns out to be different on the day

Questions to ask before booking

How we handle air conditioning in Three Ashes

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see and we talk you through it on the survey. When someone in Three Ashes asks us for air con, the first questions are usually price and who will fit it. We publish typical prices and do the refrigerant work as an F-Gas certified company.

A typical install in Three Ashes is an indoor unit high on an outside wall, a neat pipe run and an outdoor unit on a bracket or ground pad, with the condensate drained away safely.

In a village like Three Ashes, many homes are older, and some are listed. That matters, because a listed home needs consent and permitted development rules do not apply to it.

Warranty periods vary by brand and by product. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and its longer extensions apply to its air-to-water units only. Whatever the brand, the manufacturer’s terms are explained on your quote.

FAQs for Three Ashes

Do you cover Three Ashes for air conditioning?

Yes, Three Ashes is within the area we cover. Tell us a little about the job and we will take it from there.

Will air conditioning in Three Ashes need planning permission?

It depends on the property. There’s a conservation area, the Silchester Conservation Area, close to central Three Ashes. An air-to-air system used for heating as well as cooling can be permitted development on a house if it meets the conditions, but a cooling-only unit is not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road. Where necessary, we check with the planning department at Basingstoke and Deane council, typically the authority for Three Ashes.

Will you need to do electrical work?

Typically, yes. The fuse board is checked on the survey, and any electrical work goes on the quote, and our NICEIC approval covers the installation and certificate.

Where does the outdoor unit go?

We agree it with you on the survey. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and a position facing a road can bring extra planning considerations. We explain the options and any permissions to check.

Will you work on another installer’s system?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own from all the leading brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?

Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That is a legal requirement, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We are happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is written up, with F-Gas records where refrigerant work is involved.

What happens on the day

We keep the work area tidy as we go, with sheets down and mess cleared as we go. If we need to drill through a wall, we agree the spot with you first. On site, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. Seeing the property in pictures first means the trip to Three Ashes can be planned properly.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
  4. We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
  5. We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.

How to prepare

  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board

Advice

System by system

Wall-mounted split systems

Single-room split systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, with supply, fitting, commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork included. Long pipe runs, difficult access and a new circuit affect where your job sits in the range.

Ducted systems

With a ducted system, the indoor unit sits out of sight above the ceiling, with only neat grilles showing in the room. It suits rooms where a visible unit wouldn’t work.

Before you call an engineer

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.

Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

Homes in Three Ashes and air conditioning

About 40% of homes in Three Ashes and the neighbourhoods around it have been built since 2000, according to VOA council tax data, and the last census (2021) found about 75% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Newer homes are often easier to fit, with cavity walls and space in the loft for pipework. With homes like that, finding a sensible outdoor unit position is rarely hard, and a multi-split lets two or more rooms run off it.

The Vyne (roughly 2.8 miles south) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
