Air conditioning across Steep

About our air conditioning in Steep

Single-room systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, while a two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Those ranges include supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation, and commercial VRF systems are priced after a survey. Looking for air con installers near Steep? AirCon Doctor works across London and the South East from East Grinstead, as an F-Gas certified company with NICEIC approval.

For a home in or near Steep, an air-to-air system can cool in summer and heat in the cooler months, which suits garden rooms, lofts and extensions that the main heating struggles with.

We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

How it works

Think of the visit in three stages: diagnose, treat and sign off. First we check the system or the space against the plan, then we do the work, and finally everything is tested, recorded and explained. The middle part takes longest, and that takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. Work in Steep is booked in advance at a time that suits you.

  1. Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
  2. Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
  3. Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where needed.
  4. Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
  5. Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand

How to get a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Your questions about air conditioning in Steep

Is Steep in your area for air conditioning?

Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and Steep is part of that. Tell us a little about the job and we’ll take it from there.

Do you cover smaller places like Steep?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Does air conditioning need its own electrical supply?

Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. Ask to see proof before booking anyone, and we’re happy to show ours.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system and the manufacturer need. Every visit is recorded, with F-Gas records where refrigerant work is involved.

Do you provide F-Gas records?

Yes. You get a written record of each visit, including F-Gas records for any refrigerant work. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.

How does the warranty work?

The manufacturer’s warranty, on the manufacturer’s terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.

Air conditioning around Steep

Church of All Saints, listed at grade II*, is one of roughly 15 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Steep’s centre. Heritage protection changes what an install can involve, so the survey looks at your address first and tells you plainly whether consent is likely. The 2021 Census found about 74% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. With homes like that, finding a sensible outdoor unit position is rarely hard, and a multi-split lets two or more rooms run off it.

Most people start with the room that gets hottest, then add more rooms on a multi-split if needed. Older streets near Church of All Saints may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.

What air conditioning won’t do

Air conditioning cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not put right:

  • Building damp that has a structural cause
  • Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
  • Gas boiler or central heating faults (we do not work on gas boilers)

If you’re not sure, just call 07833 053749 or send an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Parts of the system we cover

  • VRF systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Multi-split systems
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Ducted systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps

Different systems, different jobs

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. Commercial and VRF systems are priced after a survey, with the design explained in the quote.

Multi-split systems

Indoor units on a multi-split don’t all have to look the same, choosing what suits each room, as the manufacturer allows. The survey settles which units go where.

What owners can safely do

Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.

From one of our customers

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
