Air conditioning in Southrope, done properly
Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Send a few photos of the rooms and the outside walls when you ring us on 07833 053749 or send an email, and you’ll hear back from us the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. Most split systems we fit in Southrope are reversible: in heating mode they work as an air-to-air heat pump, so a system bought for summer earns its keep in winter too.
Villages like Southrope often have older houses and cottages, some of them listed. That matters, because a listed home needs consent and permitted development rules don’t apply to it.
Looking after a system is mostly common sense: keep the outdoor unit clear, follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and book a service at the interval they recommend. That also helps where the warranty terms ask for regular servicing.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Landlords, letting agents and managing agents book us, not only the people who live or work in the property. Tell us who the contact on site is and who should receive the paperwork, and we will keep everyone informed.
Whether it’s one property or many, the approach is the same: a look at the job first, a fixed-price quote, work booked with the occupier and written records afterwards.
What we do, step by step
The work area is kept tidy throughout, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. If we need to drill through a wall, we agree the spot with you first. The visit takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. For a place like Southrope, the timing is set with you and the travel is our side of the planning.
- First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
- Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.
How to prepare
- Keep pets out of the rooms we are working in
- Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
- Mention any parking restrictions near the property

Advice
Air conditioning in Southrope: local notes
Southrope is about 46 miles from central London, well within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead.
About 3.1 miles south stands Hall Place. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. If your home is in one of the older streets near Church of St. Mary, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install.

Your questions about air conditioning in Southrope
Will air conditioning in Southrope need planning permission?
It depends on the property. Historic England lists about 12 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Southrope. Put simply: reversible systems on houses can be permitted development, cooling-only ones cannot, listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas limit outdoor units facing a road. When your property needs a decision, we contact the planning department at Basingstoke and Deane council, usually the authority for Southrope.
Will you come out to Southrope?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.
Which type of system should I choose?
It depends on the rooms and the building. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.
Will you make a mess?
Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets before work begins, and we tidy up as we go. At the end, we clear up and show you what we have done.
What does it cost to install air conditioning?
It depends on the rooms, the system and the pipe route, but a single-room split is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Long pipe runs, difficult access, a new circuit and premium indoor units push the price up, while commercial systems are priced after a survey.
How long will the installation take?
Most single-room systems take a day. Multi-split, ducted and cassette systems take longer and the quote says how long to expect.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system and the manufacturer need. Every visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.
Before you call an engineer
Some faults have simple causes you can check first: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and call 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.
Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in Southrope
Our prices page gives typical ranges, and your quote is built on your job. What we look at:
- What electrical work the job needs
- The size of the job
- How far the pipework has to run, and where
A single unit or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You will have a fixed price before any work starts, with VAT shown clearly.
Helping us quote
Simple jobs can often be priced from pictures and some basics. Useful things to send:
- The fuse board and where it is in the property
- Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
- Any error code or flashing light on the display
Every quote starts with a look at the job, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your pictures and details. Then you get a fixed price before any work starts.
A customer’s words
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
