What air conditioning can’t fix

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
  • Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)

If you are not sure, just phone us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form and we will give you a straight answer.

Air conditioning in Sheffield Bottom, done properly

A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, while a two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation are all included, with commercial and VRF systems priced after a survey. A lot of the calls we get from Sheffield Bottom are about one room that’s too hot to sleep or work in. That is typically a single wall-mounted split, from £1,200 + VAT.

Around Sheffield Bottom, many people choose a system that heats as well as cools, which suits rooms the main heating does not reach well, such as a garden room or loft.

The records are your system’s health record: what was fitted or found, what was done and when. It makes the next visit quicker and any warranty question simpler, so keep it safe.

Why it’s worth doing now in Sheffield Bottom

New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant can’t use F gases with a GWP above 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. R410A, used in many older systems, has a GWP of 2088. Dealing with it now is typically simpler than a breakdown later.

The process

Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. So on the day, you do not need a separate electrician for the electrical side. On site, it takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. Somewhere like Sheffield Bottom, it helps to know about lanes, gates and where to park.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
  2. You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
  3. The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
  4. We connect the supply, pressure test the pipework and evacuate it before the refrigerant is released.
  5. The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go
  • Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
  • Let us know where we can park and unload

Ceiling cassettes

Cassettes need space above the ceiling and a route for the condensate, with a condensate pump where the drain cannot fall naturally. The survey confirms the void and the drain route.

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

Bigger systems in buildings come with extra duties, including a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We can arrange the inspection and get the system ready for it.

Common questions in Sheffield Bottom

Is planning permission needed for air conditioning in Sheffield Bottom?

It depends on the property. Around 5 listed entries sit within 0.5 miles of central Sheffield Bottom. Since 2025, an air-to-air heat pump on a house can count as permitted development if it meets the conditions and isn’t used only for cooling. Listed buildings still need consent, and in a conservation area a road-facing wall or roof is not allowed under those rules. If there’s any doubt, we ask the planning department at West Berkshire council, normally the authority for Sheffield Bottom.

Will you come out to Sheffield Bottom?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.

Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?

Often, yes, but there are extra steps. You’ll typically need the landlord’s or management company’s consent for the outdoor unit and the pipe route and the lease will say. Planning rules for flats are tighter too, and we flag anything that may need permission. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes, 24/7. When you call, tell us the make, what’s happening and any error code, and we’ll advise on what to do next.

What warranty do I get?

The manufacturer’s warranty, on the manufacturer’s terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.

What does it cost to install air conditioning?

From £1,200 + VAT for a single-room split, with a typical range of £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. That covers supply, installation, commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork and is fixed after a survey or from pictures.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
