About our air conditioning in Riseley
Most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning, and a well-chosen system can earn its keep all year round. Modern air conditioning heats as well as cools: in heating mode they work as an air-to-air heat pump, which is why many owners use theirs all year.
Space outside is rarely the problem in a place like Riseley. The questions are more often the age of the walls, the electrics and how far the pipes need to run.
We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

When it’s something else
Not every problem is solved by air conditioning, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not put right:
- An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet
- A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
- Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
If in doubt, ring us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we will say what we think.

What we do, step by step
The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: diagnose, treat and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then the work itself, and finally everything is tested, recorded and explained. Most of the time goes on the middle part, which takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. If a lane or gateway near Riseley is tight for a van, let us know and we’ll plan for it.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where necessary.
- Before it runs, the pipework is proved tight and put under vacuum.
- Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.
How to prepare
- Let us know where the consumer unit is
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
- Clear the space around the indoor unit, or where it will go
How to get a quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Tell us the address and what you need, and many jobs can be priced from that.

Why deal with it now?
For homeowners, timing can matter for VAT: installing energy-saving materials in residential accommodation is zero-rated until 31 March 2027, then 5%. HMRC says most air conditioning units are air source heat pumps, but each case depends on the facts, so we confirm the VAT on your quote. This is general information, not tax advice. Small faults tend to grow, so it’s worth dealing with them early.
Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Call for a fixed-price quote and we’ll explain each part.

Your questions about air conditioning in Riseley
Do you cover Riseley for air conditioning?
Yes, Riseley is within the area we cover. Just call 07833 053749 or use the quote form with a few details.
Will you come out to Riseley?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.
Is air conditioning possible in a flat?
In many cases, but permissions come first. Leaseholders normally need consent from the landlord or management company for an outdoor unit and holes through outside walls, so check the lease. Permitted development rules for flats are also tighter than for houses, and we flag anything that may need permission. This is general information, not legal advice.
How long does air conditioning installation take?
Most single-room systems take a day. Multi-split, ducted and cassette systems take longer, and we tell you how long on the quote.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
Wall brackets, ground level and flat roofs are all options, chosen for the pipe route, airflow and access. Noise near bedrooms and boundaries is part of the decision, and the position can affect planning.
How do I know what size unit to get?
We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes, always. We diagnose before we treat: the survey tells us what the job needs and how to do it and the fixed price is built on it.
Rented and managed buildings
The F-gas rules share responsibility for leak checking between the equipment’s operator and the service technicians. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is and we’re happy to deal with whoever it is.
We work for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as homeowners and businesses. Tell us who the contact on site is and who should receive the paperwork, and we’ll keep everyone informed.
Air conditioning around Riseley
Riseley’s centre falls inside a designated conservation area. In the mile around Riseley’s centre, 2 conservation areas have been designated. Listed buildings are part of the picture here: about 9 within half a mile of the centre, such as Pound House (grade II). Before any outdoor unit is fixed here, we find out whether the building is protected. Where it is, the planning team at Wokingham council, which typically handles Riseley has the final say on what’s allowed. VOA council tax data show about 53% of homes in the Riseley area were built in 2000 or later, and the last census (2021) found about 70% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Newer homes normally have cavity walls and loft space that make pipe runs easier, though some estates have planning conditions or covenants worth checking. Houses typically have a side or rear wall with room for the outdoor unit, and a multi-split can serve several rooms from one outdoor unit.
Stratfield Saye House, about 1.7 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it. Living close to Church of All Saints? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.
