What air conditioning can’t fix

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
  • Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
  • An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet

If you’re not sure, just ring us on 07833 053749 or send an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

Air conditioning in Loudwater

Single-room systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, two rooms on a multi-split £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Those ranges include supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation, and commercial VRF systems are priced after a survey. Most split systems we fit in Loudwater are reversible: in heating mode they work as an air-to-air heat pump, which is why many owners use theirs all year.

Homes around Loudwater normally have room outside for an outdoor unit. The questions are more often the age of the walls, the electrics and how far the pipes need to run.

Equipment warranty comes from the manufacturer, on its own terms, and we explain those terms on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

Homes in Loudwater and air conditioning

About 64% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. A side passage or back wall normally gives the outdoor unit a home, and more than one bedroom can be cooled through a multi-split.

Homes near Christ Church are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. Chenies Manor House, about 2.5 miles north-west, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.

Questions from Loudwater

Is Loudwater within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We’re based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

Is air conditioning in Loudwater permitted development?

It depends on the property. The centre of Loudwater is in the Loudwater Conservation Area. Since 2025, an air-to-air heat pump on a house can count as permitted development if it meets the conditions and is not used only for cooling. Listed buildings still need consent, and in a conservation area a road-facing wall or roof is not allowed under those rules. If there’s any doubt, we ask the planning department at Three Rivers council, usually the authority for Loudwater.

How does the warranty work?

It’s the manufacturer’s warranty, which varies by brand. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and we explain the terms for whichever brand you choose.

Can I do the refrigerant work myself?

Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That’s the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We’re happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.

Which type of air conditioning is best?

There’s no single best type. Wall-mounted splits suit single rooms, multi-splits run several rooms from one outdoor unit, ducted systems hide the unit in the ceiling, and cassettes suit offices and larger rooms. We recommend one on the survey and explain why.

How do you size the system?

Floor area is only part of it. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count and the survey covers each of them.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

How the visit works

Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. The visit takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. A few photos help us make the most of a visit to Loudwater.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
  4. Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.

How to prepare

  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
  • Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
  • Clear a path to the units and the space around them

Ask for a quote

Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because every property is different. After a look at the job, by pictures or a survey, the price is fixed. To get going, ring us on 07833 053749 or send an email.

Advice

Leave it or put it right?

New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg can’t use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088. For a village like Loudwater, booking ahead lets us plan the trip properly.

Height, access and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units can all change the price. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before any work starts.

What you get with us

  • A site survey and a fixed-price quote
  • Clear warranty information from the manufacturer
  • NICEIC approved for electrical work
  • We reply to enquiries the same working day

Looking after it afterwards

So the system stays in good health:

  • Keep the room closed while it runs
  • Use moderate settings for comfort and economy
  • Refit filters properly after cleaning

The filters are the one part you will look after yourself, so we show you how. In busy periods, clean them every few weeks, or as the manual recommends, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.

Don’t ignore small changes. Water from the indoor unit, a new rattle or a code on the display usually means something needs attention and catching it early keeps the repair small.

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
